Marchioness of Magenta | 110 comments September Book Advantage Points Challenge

Goal: This time, for a change, the mods want us to aim for a % of our TTRC goal. Here's the scale (and the reward):

9.9% = 9 BAP
8.33 to 9.8% = 7 BAP
7 to 8.2 = 5 BAP

Rules: Your Team must have a minimum of one-third (1/3) of your books from the first challenge, A Book a Day Keeps the Boredom at Bay Reading Challenge. You may then choose the rest, in any percent each of the next two NBRC challenges you choose.

Magenta Mix-Up has chosen the following three challenges:
A Book a Day Keeps the Boredom at Bay Reading Challenge.
Title Challenge: Read the Alphabet
Camp Gottaread

Challenge List:

23 - Title begins with W. ("Wildflower Girl")
31 - A new beginning. (Again, she moves to America.
Title challenge:

12 - There's a character called Simon.
15 - There is a rather distinct glow on the cover.
16 - YA book.

30 - Vampires, fairies, warlocks... rather many characters with abnormal life spans.
Title challenge:
C for City of Fallen Angels.
Camp Gottaread:
Swim the seas of series you've always meant to finish but never have.

Dead Souls by Nikolai Gogol

20 - Chichikov was at the top of his class when he was younger.
Title challenge:
D for Dead Souls.
Camp Gottaread:
Climb the intimidating heights of Mount TBR.

13 - There were a few supercomputers and a few good hackers in the book.

message 9: by Deedee (new)

Deedee Not sure if I qualify or not. My ID says 34% of the way to the goal.

I also looked at
Monthly/Seasonal Challenge Index
and found one that I've been doing all year now:

http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

I have a possibility of finishing it. :0) Level I for sure, it's the further levels that are questionable.

Marchioness of Magenta | 110 comments Deedee, the challenges have to worked as a team. So far, the three challenges that we are planning to do are:

Book A Day Challenge
Title Challenge: Read the Alphabet
Camp Gottaread

For 9.9%, you have to read 17 books in September. But as a team, we have to read 52. It doesn't matter who reads how much as long we read 52 & 1/3rd of our books fit A Book A Day challenge.

I'll add your name to the list. So glad you are joining us! :)

Hamlet by William Shakespeare
Hamlet by William Shakespeare
-----Fits:
--A Book A Day Keeps the Boredom Away:
1. One word title
6. Main character is a man (almost every character is a man :P)
23. W: William
--Title challenge:
H for Hamlet

A Winter Haunting by Dan Simmons
A Winter Haunting by Dan Simmons
----Fits:
--A Book A Day:
2. I say it fits this because he's tried to kill himself (twice, so third chances? :P) but didn't succeed and got a second chance at life (or at another suicide attempt if you're thinking morbidly?)
4. Set in the US, mainly Illinois
6. Main character is a man
10. Main character is a writer
23. W: Winter
--Titles:
W for Winter Haunting, A

--A Book A Day:
1. One word title, also a first experience (Frankenstein hadn't created a monster before, after all :P)
6. Main character is a man
15. May be a stretch since it's more lightning than a light glow on the cover.
--Title Challenge:
F for Frankenstein

Mount TBR - this one has also been sitting on my shelf for about 4 years.

Revelation Space (Revelation Space, #1) by Alastair Reynolds

6. Main character is a man in all of the short stories in this collection. Oh, 19th century literature :P

--Title Challenge:
D for Dr Jekyll
--Camp Gottaread:
Mount TBR - this one's been on my shelf for ages too. Maybe I have a slight problem with buying books...
Listen to campfire tales - I think this would count because this was a collection of short stories that all seems to have a murder or a guy turning into Mr Hyde or something along those lines.
