This week's selection is Louise Penny's How the Light Gets In. Though this is a book in a series, I've read earlier books and each can be read as a stand-alone. Check it out here: http://amzn.to/1aTXlzl - has anyone else read any of her other books?

Becky | 20 comments I've read three books in the series so far. I started with Brutal Telling then went back to Still Life. I just read Fatal Grace. I love the characters and the setting and am looking forward to reading more soon!

Helen | 6 comments I picked up "A trick of the light" from the local library. Loved it. The characters. The cosy settings,The humour. The interaction between Inspector Armand Gamache and his team. It also had suspense. I had no idea who murdered Lillian? I immediately went and got "A beautiful mystery" from the library. However, I am confused about the order of these books. They can be stand-alone. However, references to previous events are puzzling. Better for the whole picture. Is this book as good?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) I just reviewed the ninth book in this series and I still have the list of books in order from when I heard of Louise Penny. I also recommend that everyone read them in order to get the most out of book 9. There are many threads that get woven together, and others that unravel.

1. Still Life
2. A Fatal Grace (alt. title, Dead Cold)
3. The Cruelest Month
4. A Rule Against Murder (alt. title, The Murder Stone)
5. The Brutal Telling
6. Bury Your Dead
7. A Trick of the Light
8. The Beautiful Mystery
9. How the Light Gets In

Enjoy!

Rebecca (purplerrr) | 76 comments Like all of her previous Gamache novels, I found this one very very hard to get into, but once I got in, I was hooked and found it hard to stop reading. I really like the cultural differences that are explored with the Franco and Anglo cultures. I like how she's developed the characters and how it was rewarded in this book. I may go back and read the books in order from the beginning. Thanks Charlene for putting the list up so I know the order.

Helen | 6 comments I like this series also. I have only read three of them.A trick of the light has been my favourite so far. I particularly like the humour between Gamache and his wife. She is not awed by him. These novels have elements of "cosy" about them. I like "edge" and at the present minute reading The woman Upstairs by Claire Messud A slow burn!
