Yes...they're light reads....so-so types. I only liked 3 mistakes of my life and 2 states. Hated five point someone. One night at the call center was nice but unnatural. Revolution 2020 the story was good but didn't like how he wrote the book.

I really never enjoyed his writing.

Yes...exactly, his writing isn't nice. Even though the stories are good, writing spoils it all.

yes I tried the book five point someone not really enjoyed it but my friend is fan ohhhof him..
Yeah...lots of people think CB's GREAT!! But he's actually CRAP in front of other great writers.....

i just think his writing style is really like easy-to-read like a light-read kinda books.
Like i mean his writing style is very simple and straight forward...
But i guess the story line is good.
Not crap....but as compared to other great writers, I think he really writes crap...(this thought is specifically directed towards people who think CB's the greatest writer ever and he's awesome and who read only his books and go all super-crazy at the mention of his names....believe me, I have such friends).

well yeah I know the feeling, only reading his books over and over again and ignoring the others, it's same as people going crazy over Salman....truly hates him too.
cool ditto.....another one.down....

actually Cassandra Clare is quite good. She writes in a very proffessional and sophisticated manner. And has a pretty extended vocabulary. Iv actually learnt a lot of new words.
AND uses english techniques: veryy good imagery and descrition and nice use of metaphors/similes/personification.
Chetan writes in a straight-forward and like "diary-entry" kinda manner.
You cant compare the two, their writing styles are quite different. But Cassandra does write of a higher quality than Chetan.

oh my friend like LOVES him!
evn at this age she thinks he's still hot!
and we all tease her about it.
well yeah her writing is better than him but I'm not talking about her writing style, she have a superior one, being one of world's best seller but I really didn't enjoyed the mortal instruments

ohh ur talking about the actual story... ok that makes sense, cuz i thought u were implying that her writing style is bad, and im ust like "Wat planet r u living on?"
hahahah XD
haha well I was talking about the stories....

i agree though, i kinda got bored and started hating the series after she introduced incest and i was just like "Eww ok soooo NOT romantic. Just go die in a hole u guys!"
BUT!!!the Infernal Devices series was soooo much better.
well I never started reading infernal devices but yeah, I enjoyed the book upto the point when incest wasn't pointed out, although it turns out to be fake in the third book as I was expecting it....

I'm 13 years old!"
Probably not. Why don't you pick some good books instead?
Try The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Tom Sawyer abroad, Tom Sawyer Detective. The Harry Potter series. The Hunger Games series. Lords of ring. Hobbit.
Those are the classic books you'll most certainly enjoy at your age (or any age for that matter).
I enjoyed reading The Famous Five series, The Secret Seven Series, The Five Find liters series, and The Hardy Boys series when I was your age. And you will like them too.

I read his books when I was 12-13...though I guess it was not appropriate at that time.

I totally agree. Indian authors like Ashwin Sanghi, Amish Tripathi, Vikram Seth, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni are so much better compared to him.

He writes Entertaining novels with Indian film plot which sells well in India. His stories make better screenplay stuff than a novel(no wonder all his novels are turned into films). His books are very light and enjoyable but not what you can call "A GOOD BOOK". I admit that he has garnered a readership and has become the reason why a few more young people are reading. And this is definitely good. However, in terms of the quality of the writing itself, I think that I can write better than him. No, SERIOUSLY. I do think so. There are better indian authors. Though I liked 2states, I think it had been written for being turned into a movie. Pure masala. Maybe that's what people like about his stories. They want to read bollywood movies rather than seeing them, which his novels provide. Anyways, he is the most succesful author we have. So, all the brickbats aren't going to work.
I AM GLAD THAT I COULD EXPRESS THIS MUCH HERE BECAUSE IN SCHOOL, NOONE IS ALLOWED TO SPEAK ONE WORD AGAINST CB.
P.S- I hated 3 mistakes of my life and I didn't see the point in changing the whole plot in the film and giving credit to CB.

If I have to be fair to him, his books do have content that Indians associate with. Also, the easy language is what wins him a large readership. And there is something in the plot that filmmakers get a whiff off, and eventually turn it into blockbusters.
Now to the cons:
Bad grammar and sentence formation. For me that is the biggest turn off. True, he tries to include commonplace language and lingos, but is it what a novel is all about? Why not make an attempt at writing better? Case in point being a scene from 'One Night at the Call Center', where one of the characters vomits. The shape of the vomit is compared to pizza. That was one of his low points.
And rather than catering to what the audience is comfortable with, why not make a sincere effort at better construction of sentences, and help that reading populace elevate. I know people who swear by CB. I used to get annoyed by that, but then I came to realize that their wold is comprised of only BB's books. One can't help but facepalm over this.
Also, all his books have protagonists with father issues. It may or may not be arising out of his personal experience, but I think it is time to give it a rest.
Moreover, the way his projection of women is deprecatory. I don't want all of them to be poster child of virtue, but the way he portrays them is enough to convince readers that women are the biggest vices in the world.

I personally think CB is quite over-rated....Still don't know why people get so hyper at the name of his books. What about you??
