I preferred Breathe but I really did like Lady Luck a lot, its gotta be a close 2nd.
I finished Unlawful Contact last night and PC does an excellent job of dealing with the emotional scars of being in prison.

Yeah it is a great book. My favorite in the series so far. I need to write my review.

Alyx Heroine convicted of stealing, I believe. She is sent to a plantation where she and the hero are used as breeders.
Secret Lives Hero is a convicted child molester. (going to go ahead and say, due to the nature, that hero didn't do it).
The Rainbow Season Hero convicted of rape.
Conor's Way Spent time in Prison for being part of the Irish rebellion.
The Wives of Bowie Stone Spent time in jail for murder. Is sentenced to be hanged when the heroine saves him.
Fever. Can't remember a lot besides the hero is a "Lifer" and it was a lot like Unlawful Contact by Pamela Clare.
Traceless Hero spent time in prison for murder. Is out on parole.
Into the Fire Hero is a felon and did time for seriously injuring another man during a fight.
I've been wanting to read Fever. My sister read and really liked it. I heard that there was so racial issues, but she signed off on it. I'll have to move it up my list.
I am loving all the recs. Thank you so much.
This theme resonates with me for some reason!

I also love this theme (It's probably my favorite of all). I find a lot of historicals that fit, but it's hard for me to find contemps with this theme that are, IMO, worth reading. Those that I have, I have reread until I can recite them by heart.

Paradise got me so hooked that I ordered most of Ms. McNaught's work :) Now I got it all (almost) in paperback copies ;) And I've finished all her Second Chances series.. I was NOT disappointed :D

It's an oldie but a goodie : )

It's a new adult about a young girl still in college working a summer job as a probation officer (because apparently there's no special training required) and her love interest is the parolee she's supervising (because there's nothing unethical about that scenario).
He was in prison for drug charges...but I'm betting he took the rap for family.
What can I say...it was free.

It's not sounding very plausible. I wouldn't have picked it up if it weren't free...but I figured technically it does fit the category.

I don't know if it varies state to state, but you need more than special training, you need a college degree to be a probation officer in my state. so. . .
Now, a corrections officer I could buy, because I know that you only have be of age, pass a background check, and take a two week training course.
Edit: I stand corrected. This book is not set in the US, but Northern Ireland (Belfast) still requires a degree in social work. Even a trainee has to complete a two year program and be at least twenty years old.
I would think you need some life experience in order to be someone's probation officer, so they would tend not to hire a very young person, especially a woman (considering she might be working with violent ex-cons).
