message 4: by Rachel (last edited Sep 16, 2013 12:17AM) (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Can I nominate Dawn's Prelude by Tracie Peterson? I was reorganising my bookshelves yesterday and came across this book. I'd completely forgotten I had it, which is probably a sign I have too many books ;)

message 5: by Mainstay (last edited Sep 16, 2013 12:47AM) (new)

Mainstay Ministries (mainstayministries) | 1 comments I'd like to nominate Tales of the Kingdom by David and Karen Mains. Great reads for kids, Moms and Dads. Tales Of The Kingdom by David R. Mains

message 6: by Kalena (new)

Kalena (bookt2) | 135 comments Since I started really reading Christian fiction in the past year, the book that keeps getting recommended to me is This Present Darkness (Darkness, #1) by Frank Peretti by Frank Peretti. I did not see this after a cursory look back, so I would like to nominate it.

Hi, Mainstay, we normally do full length novels for the Group Read...this appears to be a book of short stories. I'll have to double check to see if this works as a nomination. Thanks! :)

message 9: by Loraine (new)

Loraine (librarydiva) | 4436 comments I usually start on my Christmas TBR list in November so I'd like to nominate The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Decked Out by Neta Jackson by Neta Jackson.

message 10: by Camy (new)

Camy (camytang) | 59 comments I'd like to nominate Mr. Darcy Broke My Heart. I checked the CFD shelf and I think it hasn't been chosen before.

message 11: by Cindi (new)

Cindi | 13 comments I'd like to nominate The Reason by William Sirls The Reason

message 12: by J.S. (new)

J.S. Bailey (jsbailey) I'll nominate Choices of The Heart by Rhonda Kooyman. It's a moving, well-written novel about a victim of domestic violence, and I highly recommend it.

Choices of The Heart by Rhonda Kooyman

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Loraine wrote: "I usually start on my Christmas TBR list in November so I'd like to nominate The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Decked Out by Neta Jackson by Neta Jackson."

Can this be read as a standalone? I've only read the first two books in this series, but I remember that the second book directly followed the storyline in the first one. But maybe the later books are different.

Also, Camy, that book looks really interesting! Another one for my wishlist, I think...

That's why I wanted to read it for our group book read. :) I haven't read it yet but want to!

I read another Austen-themed contemporary novel recently, The Missing Manuscript of Jane Austen, which was a lot of fun! And the "missing" book was surprisingly authentic :)

Beth - after doing some more research, I'm not so sure it really is a standalone because a few things in the book take a bit of background knowledge from the previous Yada Yada series. So instead I would like to nominate Chris Fabry's A Marriage Carol by Chris Fabry

message 21: by Loretta (new)

Loretta (lorettalivingstone) | 5 comments I absolutely love anything by Neta Jackson, so I have all the Yada Yada books, and almost everything she's written since. I have one left to get - her latest.

That's awesome! If you enjoy Austen's Persuasion, you'll really like Jane Austen Ruined My Life. I absolutely love Persuasion and Jane Austen Ruined My Life was fantastic.

Not a problem. I can renominate it for another time.

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments Hi everyone! I'll post the reads for next month later today! I might have time on a break at work, but if not it will be this evening. Thanks for your patience!

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments Hi, everyone!

November's Main Group Read will be...This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti!

Thanks, Kalena, for nominating this one, and to everyone else who nominates each month :)

Stay tuned for November's Group Read #2!

Yeah! This is the first book on top of my TR Christmas stack:)

message 34: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (creativecountry0407gmailcom) | 437 comments @Beth: Is this the additional group read for next month or will there be a poll at some point? Just curious.

message 35: by Beth (new)

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments The poll for October's Additional Group Read has been posted for just over a week. You should see the thread under "Book of the Month Reading." Here's the direct link: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

message 36: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (creativecountry0407gmailcom) | 437 comments @Beth: Ok. I've already voted for this month's additional group read. I was actually referring to whether or not there would be a poll for November. I hope this is clear now. (:

message 37: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Olson (girlsmama) | 694 comments @Natalie- for my read "the additional group read" for November, that poll will go up on October 20th- or around there and run until November 5th and then the read will start on November 15th. It is a shorter turn around time on that one.

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments Natalie wrote: "@Beth: Ok. I've already voted for this month's additional group read. I was actually referring to whether or not there would be a poll for November. I hope this is clear now. (:"

Ah, gotcha. I'm sure it didn't help that we just last month added a second group read, so that there would be more options for our members. To clarify, the two I announce like this are the Main Group Read & the Main Group Read #2, whereas Cheryl's are always referred to as "Additional." I probably should have mentioned that when i announced the second group read :) Sorry for my confusion!

message 39: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (creativecountry0407gmailcom) | 437 comments @Beth: Ok. Thanks. I am assuming that the Additional Group read poll will be up around the 20th of this month along with the December Main Group nominations thread. Am I right?

message 40: by Beth (last edited Oct 01, 2013 04:57PM) (new)

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments I'm not sure about December yet...in the past, we've done different things, we've not done a group read, in order for members to focus on family, etc, and read Christmas-themed reads because a lot of folks do that. Either way, the nominations thread or announcement for December will be on Oct. 15 :)

message 41: by Kalena (new)

Kalena (bookt2) | 135 comments I cannot wait for November now!! :D

message 42: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Olson (girlsmama) | 694 comments I loved this one too! This book is a nod to Dickens as well as marriage and like Jodie said- what is important and the choices we make! Awesome!

message 43: by Beth (new)

Beth (bbulow) | 2403 comments Both of these titles are at the local library so I hope yo do both of them :)
