Nicole (catwithkeyboard) It had started chasing him a mile back. All he had wanted was to walk through the woods and bask in the glow of the full moon. It had emerged from the bushes behind him without making a sound. When he turned around he saw them. The big yellow eyes glittering in the darkness. Moonlight reflected off large pointed teeth.

Maybe if he hadn't let out the small sound of surprise it wouldn't have noticed him, but it's keen ears could have picked up the sound even if he was no where near it. It darted at him and his body froze in fear. The distance closed between them fast when suddenly he propelled himself forward. A split second later the strong jaws snapped together on air where he had been.

He ran clumsily down the path for what seemed like hours. His vision blurred as he struggled not to cry. He gasped for air as his stamina ran low and his lungs burned with the need for it. As he was tiring he made a fatal mistake. He looked back. The wolf was still there. As he returned his gaze ahead of him, he tripped.

It was upon him instantly. He raised his arm to defend himself and the creature's jaws clamped down around it.

Alice (alice20) You have a gift for creating suspense and making the reader immersed in the world of your stories... this was a prime example. I just love your style and your language!

Emily (anonymuscloud) | 14 comments Noah had lost track of where she was. In the large run down castle that served as the lair for the Card of Diamonds, the first trial. She didn't know where Jason was. She didn't know where Crow was. She didn't know where Elanore was either. They had all scattered when the puppet attacked. That meant two things, one, it could only focus on one of them, two, they didn't know anything about it aside from the fact that it had a mace, and it was male. They didn't know it's strategies, they didn't know anything. One of them could easily die, and they'd have no idea where they were. Neither things were comforting her. The ambiance didn't do the situation any justice either. She heard a rattle of chains from the ceiling and looked up. He was here.
