the Autobiography of Malcolm X is amazing.
the Persepolis graphic novels, the Maus graphic novels, and the graphic novels by Joe Sacco are all good non-fiction. and i just read the memoir Fun Home by Alison Bechdel and it was great.
Revolutionary Voices- A Multicultural Queer Youth Anthology ed. by Amy Sonnie is good to check out, too.
War is-- : soldiers, survivors, and storytellers talk about war / edited by Marc Aronson and Patty Campbell is a new important book

Also, Harry, A History: The True Story of a Boy Wizard, His Fans, and Life Inside the Harry Potter Phenomenon by Melissa Anelli for an inside look at HP fandom, which I've heard is fascinating. :)

I was going to mention this one, but I it's not in our teen section at work. However, I think teens would like the quirky humor.

Maus by Art Speilgman
Things I have To Tell You edited by Betsy Franco
33 Things Every Girl Should Know edit by Tonya Bolden
Body Drama by Nancy Amanda Redd (FANTASTIC)This is not our Our Bodies, Ourselves. This rocks!
Sugar In The Raw edited by Rebecca Carroll

Always Running / Luis J. Rodriguez
East Side Dreams / Art Rodriguez
The Freedom Writers Diary with Erin Gruwell
My Bloody Life / Reymundo Sanchez
Once a King, Always a King / Reymundo Sanchez

I've also read The Burn Journals which was a bit too honest for me, but still good for teens, especially boys. The author set himself on fire as a teen in a suicide attempt.

Really good story though - really makes me want to become a foster parent!
