Britt (brittbean) | 19 comments I haven't read too much fiction this year. (I have been in a mood lol) I must say that I loved Disgruntled. The characters were so real to me.

That's interesting, Cy. I loved Every Day is for the Thief but couldn't even finish Open City. Caryl Phillips was in town recently and that was the first time I'd heard about him. I'm going to have a closer look at his books.

Of the books I've read this year, The Book of Negroes and How to Escape from a Leper Colony are way ahead of the rest.

I've read three 2015 publications, The Star Side of Bird Hill, God Help the Child, and Blackass, but I would't give any of them more than 3 stars.

Nakia The Turner House has been my favorite 2015 publication so far. I haven't read many newly published works this year though.

I've given 5 star ratings to three books not published in 2015. These have been my favorite reads this year: The Book of Negroes, Getting Mother's Body, and Everything I Never Told You

Monica (monicae) | 554 comments I've given 5 stars to four books. None published in 2015. Books are:

Americanah Thoroughly enjoyed it!!
Devil in the Grove: Thurgood Marshall, the Groveland Boys, and the Dawn of a New America Nonfiction horror. Expertly written
A Prayer for Owen Meany John Irving can tell a story. I fell for the characters and quirkiness
Anansi Boys Probably not a 5 star book but I enjoyed it too much for anything less.

I read several good books the first half of the year. But, I really enjoyed The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters and anxious to go through her entire line of books.
