Ellen (more books, please) (ellenlovestoread) | 94 comments I am thinking about dropping my Audible membership.
I am getting a ton of the Whispersync deals and the Audible Daily Deals, more than enough to feed my habit. Sometimes I can get four books AND the narration for what my monthly membership costs.

Also if I drop Audible, I will start buying Tantor books which are also often on sale and better value than my monthly Audible fee. I haven' gotten them before because I felt I should concentrate on just one provider.

What are the ramifications of this? I know I will miss out on the member-only sales, which is fine with me because now there are so many other options.
I know I can still access my Audible library the same, right?
I can rejoin at any time, right?

Anybody dumped Audible and regretted it?

I had four credits that I haven't used because I have gotten so many lately, but they gave me that deal of using four credits and getting $10, so I felt that was a sign from the audio book goddesses to get four and let it go.

Dee (austhokie) | 1379 comments do you get the audible daily deals if you aren't a member? do the whisper-sync prices stay the same?

Dawn | 535 comments I am going to put my membership on hold for a few months, have you considered doing that instead of canceling? I cancelled once and lost all of the credits I had at the time.

Angie (angiemb) | 415 comments Yes, you can get the daily deal and all of the whispersync prices even if you don't have a membership.

D.G. | 1329 comments Ellen - You can still access your Audible Library and you can rejoin at any time. If you can make do with the Whispersync deals and the Daily Deal, then you should be good to go.

But like Dee said, if you cancel, you will lose your credits so use them first.

Yes, you can get Daily Deals and Whispersync prices with cancelled accounts. I know I get them with my old account which is the one linked to my main Amazon account which is the one I use to buy books.

Ellen (more books, please) (ellenlovestoread) | 94 comments Thanks, y'all.
Yeah, I used all four of my credits this week. They sent me an e-mail saying if I used four, I would get a $10 credit. So I stocked up on Nora Roberts' comfort listens. They immediately offered to sell me three more.
I will put a hold on it, if they let me.

binter Ellen, is the "Listener Light" membership still available? It was approx $10 annually and still gave you access to all the sales. Added benefit, I don't think you need to use up all your credits before you switch to this level - IF it is still available.

I don't know. I will check it out. Apparently now you have to call to interact with CS. Before if you just played around in your account a while a concierge would pop in. Hasn't happened so I will call tomorrow to discuss my options. Thanks!

Pls let us know what they tell you. I'm curious as to whether the Listener Light membership is still an option.

Ellen (more books, please) (ellenlovestoread) | 94 comments Listener Light is still an option. For $9.95 a year IF you have a "pile of credits," you can put your membership on hiatus and maintain the credits.
You can only put your membership on hold for three months if you don't pay the $9.95.
Since I don't have any credits, I didn't ask if the three-month hiatus would negate the credits.

binter I have put membership on hold before and you do NOT (as I recall) lose your credits.

So, it seems that someone could take a 3 months hiatus or - if needing longer - switch to the Listener Light plan. Both will allow you to retain credits, (I assume) buy credits and give access to sales/member prices.

Good to know!
