Madhellena | 9 comments Hi everyone,
I'm looking for suggestions for books that show "life after mating" - as in what happens after the heroine becomes Alpha of a pack (challenges, relationships etc)
It's pretty sad that most books end with "and they lived happily ever after" when I'm very curious to see how they deal with being in charge :)
Thank you in advance :)

Madhellena | 9 comments I read Bitten and Stolen but I didn't like them much - not enough to go on with the series. My main issue with the book was that Elena was the only female character and I really didn't like her.
I loved the Kate Daniels series, especially
Magic Strikes (Kate Daniels, #3) by Ilona Andrews
It's a perfect example of how a relationship evolves in a Pack, with the challenges and the issues brought by the position of Alpha female.

You can follow some of what happens in Shelly Laurenston's Pride and Were-wolf series as the stories continue through the other couples.

Pack Challenge is the first. The others kind of grow from that, and it doesn't matter if it's Pride or Pack. The various couples appear in each others stories.

Dawn (dawnv) | 320 comments Go figure I cannot think of a single book where we see the woman in the actual alpha role...well Alpha Instinct (Moon Shifter, #1) by Katie Reus she is an alpha, but not that successfully...there is also The Fairy Godmother (Five Hundred Kingdoms, #1) by Mercedes Lackey where the godmother has more power than her husband but you see that in subsequent books.

Looking forward to other responses.

Taming the Wolf (Anna Avery, #1) by Stephanie Nelson Embracing the Wolf (Anna Avery, #2) by Stephanie Nelson

The Mercy Thompson series seems to be delving into this issue as well. It's interesting from the perspective that she is a skinwalker and not a werewolf. There's a bunch of books but this is the first:
Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs

Then there is also the Phoenix Pack series by Suzanne Wright - we see glimpses of the alpha female from the first book in the second book, then the upcoming third book looks to be how a submissive female can become the mate of an alpha.
Feral Sins (The Phoenix Pack, #1) by Suzanne Wright Wicked Cravings (The Phoenix Pack, #2) by Suzanne Wright Carnal Secrets

Oh, yes, Shelly is my favourite author, I read all of her books and I have to say I love Sara as Alpha, she's such an amazing bitch :))

Thank you, Ninab, I'll try the Anna Avery series, I already read the other two series.

I read a lot of the wolf/Pride books on the market and I noticed that the subject of "fitting in" is not really developed. Most authors explain the relationship with the Alpha, but being in charge means a lot of other responsabilities.
