Alice (alice20) I'm just wondering how often you write and for how long. I feel like I should practice writing more, but whenever I have the chance I get lazy and unmotivated. How do you deal with that?

Amy Thomson I just write when I can, I go through stages actually. Like at the moment I haven't written properly in ages, but at Christmas when I have more time I'm sure I'm going to write a lot more.
Then again, I always have my phone and iPod which I'm ALWAYS writing on, when I'm walking home, when I'm on the bus, when I'm walking to lessons. It's a really good way of keeping motivated as it's not as scary as sitting down and just writing. Also, little things motivate me so I have to write them on my iPod as soon as I hear it so that I don't forget.

Alice (alice20) That is such a good strategy to keep motivated! I always have ideas that I forget as soon as I think of them... You seem to be A LOT more motivated and dedicated than me though. Maybe it's just a stage right now but I am completely out of the writing zone.

Emily (anonymuscloud) | 14 comments I like to write during class when I've finished the classwork and kids are still working since the story I'm working on now is on my laptop and my teacher doesn't mind. If I have writers block I reread what I wrote recently so I remember what was going on and might spark a bit of something.

I try to write whenever I can, and whenever I feel inspirational. It's good to always write, even though you don't want to, just to get in habit :) I usually write during weekends because of school :/ I listen to 8tracks which is kinda like Pandora, but they have already made playlists for you! So i usually search up "writing" or instrumental" music :)

Alice (alice20) I do that too Cindy. I like listening to classical while I write because it's so expressive and emotional, but calming at the same time.

Iesha (In east shade house at...) (emberblue) | 150 comments I write everyday, whether the writing takes place in my head or on my phone or computer. I see all kinds of stories around me in my everyday life that I can't help but to come up with different ideas. The actually shocks me. I've also been thinking about using a software that allows one to speak into a microphone and write the words for you to save time for me.

Alice (alice20) That kind of program sounds cool, but what about the dialogue? I don't think it'd be very fun to go back into your story and meticulously add quotation marks around every line.

Iesha (In east shade house at...) (emberblue) | 150 comments I think they have it set up to where you can say something, and it will type the quotation marks in, but if not, I would simply stop after I came to an end point of not knowing what to do in my story, and go back to edit. It would be easier that way.

that sounds pretty cool :) i try to write on my phone sometimes, but it usually turns out really crappy. so i'm just like i'll save it for the computer :P

Iesha (In east shade house at...) (emberblue) | 150 comments I try to take my time when I use my phone and I save the section on my email account so I can go back and get it later:)
