I would suggest Inferno, The Light Between Oceans or The Book Thief because I still have those laying around because one way or another I always start reading new series and sequels. It's time for a good oldfashioned stand-along

I'd like to read Dan Brown's Inferno :) Also Life of Pi, Memoirs of a Geisha or The Graveyard book are good :)

I recommend 'The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruis Zafon. I picked it up randomly in a bookstore and it turned out to be one of the most beautifully written books I've read. Its sequel has also just come out. I'm on an app so can't add a link but The Shadow of the Wind is on good reads and you can take a look at some of the reviews for an idea of the plot.

The Kiva and the Mosque provides an alternate view of humanity in transition with magic interwoven into daily realities for two people reluctantly accepting the role of modern day prophets. The flavor and spice of this book is about action and adventure, but the meat is about hope for a troubled world.

I would also recommend "How to get filthy rich in Rising Asia" by Mohsin Hamid. I've heard interesting reviews about the way this novel is written, and also because I've to read it for a book club meeting end of this month.

Just read reviews for The Kiva and the Mosque. sounds interesting so I would second Kayt's recommendation.
