(MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!)
My rating: 3/5 stars.
The story had wonderful magical aspects that all fairytales possess and having the story take place during winter with a world full of ice and wonder made even more likable. However, I felt C.S. Lewis did a much better job of telling a Fairytale set in winter with, "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe".
I enjoyed, "Breadcrumbs" just didn't love it! I thought the ending would have been better if Jack would have chosen to stay in the woods and lived like so many of the characters Hazel met along the way.

While I didn't absolutely not like the story, I guess I wasn't 100% into it either. I have to admit, my mind wandered quite a bit during it.
I didn't connect with Hazel or Jack really. Hazel wasn't a super likable character for me. I can understand some of the depression Jack had with his mother being depressed and such. But I can't figure out why he was being snooty to Hazel. I enjoyed the pictures though, that was neat.
I felt the ending was lacking. The Snow Queen didn't really put much of a fight up when Hazel took Jack back. Most evil characters try their best to keep what they took. Then it's like when she saved him, they just went home! There were no hugs or thank you for saving me type stuff. It was just lacking.
My fave part would have to be the story Hazel told of how Jack got the baseball signed and stuff. This would prolly be a good story for the younger crowd, which it is aimed at, but for me it was kinna blah, when I'm used to more story and whatnot.

So first of all I would have never chosen this book just to read it for fun, but it was ok - I actually enjoyed it.
I did like the second part more because it was interesting to read how Hazel met all these different characters on her way to the Snow Queen, but yes Snow Queen was little pit disappointing - I agree with Lacey from the previous review that SQ let Jack go extremely easily..
From the first part I have so many questions - some got answers, some didn't.
I really didn't connect to Hazel or Jack either and I think that they were really childish for their age. Only thing that I felt to Hazel was love for books - I used to read too on my way to school/home and I still do on road trips and any other possible chance I have :)
Yes, I agree with everyone! I'm sorry this month's book was somewhat of a disappointment! I hope next's month's is so much better! :)
