Marcy (cravingtoread) | 2 comments I'm always on the look out for longer chapter books that have a subtle message of moral values, love of God or family that we can read together as a family. Books like "Where the Red Fern Grows" where you are highly entertained and taught as the same time. I'm interested in both old and new authors.

Elizabeth (elizabeththeelizabeth) | 2 comments I really like the Little Britches series for building character. They teach about hard work and helping your family. They're also full of examples of ingenuity and not letting problems stand in your way. They're based on the author's life, so that's even cooler and they are super fun to read for adults and kids. I offer one caution: there's some mild language in some of them (hecks and darns). Because of that we usually recommend them for parents to read out loud to the family so they can edit as they choose. I haven't read the ones later in the series when he's an adult.

Elizabeth (elizabeththeelizabeth) | 2 comments I forgot to say that the Little Britches books are by Ralph Moody. Sorry.
