Claudia Hi, I was about to start reading this book but then I began reading comments about it.. Is this book/trilogy worth reading?
I'm thinking this is kind of like This Man's trilogy by J.E. Malpas. I remember hating and not understanding Jesse Ward in books 1 and 2 but then I liked him in book 3. Either way, I thought it was a great trilogy.
So what do you think? Do you recommend it? Thanks!

~IreneOust~ Claudia, this is NOTHING like This Man trilogy. It's a lot of mindfuck, a lot of twists and turns and a lot of screaming "WTF???" at your reading device ;) The first book might seem a bit slow but it introduced a lot of details that lead up to and explained many events that take place in book 2 and 3. Personally, I think this trilogy is worth reading. It's got a great tangled web of a story that I enjoyed very much. I think till the very end, we won't know who did what and what exactly drove them to do it.

~IreneOust~ I think that's the beauty of this trilogy - things aren't always what they seem. If you do find this book a little slow, give book 2 a chance anyways. It has a lot more going on and a lot more characters enter the picture.

Claudia Ok great, I will. Thanks for the help!

Sorry for barging in but speaking from personal experience, the last chapters of book 1 will be more than enough to hook the readers in.

~IreneOust~ Ayush, that's VERY true!

Mo This series is really, really good! After finishing Book 1 and 2 - I want more!! :)

Few days to go. Oct 8 is the RD of the last book.

Peggy This has turned out to be one of my favorite series. I don't think that you can compare it to the This Man series at all. They are nothing alike. I guess it would be more like the Dark Duet series - dark fiction that makes you think. I would highly recommend it, especially if you are needing to get away from fluffy romance but still want some good sexin', lol.
And, for the record, I am Team Tony all the way!

~IreneOust~ Team Tony here as well! I even made this GIF to prove it! LOL!

RedRedtheycallmeRed If you are one of those people who find rape and abuse romantic, then you'll probably like it.

After the second book, I wish I could un-read it.

Not even going to bother with the third one.

Claudia David Gandy is my "imaginary boyfriend" in almost every book LOL!! Great gif!

As someone that loves this series, I can't help but find this comment offensive and judgmental. Ummmm, it is a book. I don't think that any of us find rape and abuse romantic in real life. Plus, there was way more going on in these books than rape and abuse.

Claudia wrote: "David Gandy is my "imaginary boyfriend" in almost every book LOL!! Great gif!"

Did anyone even know who David Gandy was until he became the poster man for nearly all smexy romance novels written, lol?

Kira Just finished book 1, and it totally blew my mind even after just reading the first few pages. Yeah I totally think Christian Grey doesn't have a hold on Tony but man! It's so wrong to compare, both are HOT, the only difference is Consequence was nicely done and written, as for 50 shades well better luck next time.

Cannot wait to start the second book!

Tony does redeem himself and become empathetic BUT it's a hard read if you really like feel good books You may have a hard time with this one. This one is very raw and I could not stop reading it was well written I thought. I like that the female lead was a little older and educated it made it seem more plausible. TONY needed someone to make him have feelings and Claire was perfect. Read them consecutively it reads better that way - the third book really puts it in perspective.

Red, I kind of get where you are coming from with this comment. I actually am not that adverse to reading non-con erotica, but found this series unsettling. I really enjoyed the first book as complete mind f*** theater. It was an awesome, but disturbing read.

The second book that tried to turn Tony into some kind of romantic hero disturbed much more than the picture painted in Consequences as a complex villain. This series was closer to an autopsy of an abusive relationship than a dark romance, IMO.

I'm a fan of the series, but find it disturbing how anyone can see Tony as loving. All I got was a beautiful exterior with a dark soul. I think the big difference between this and the Dark Duet for me was the heroines. Claire just wasn't as strong as Liv. They were both brutalized but felt Claire didn't come out that whole on the other side, so she felt like a forever victim to me.

Yes, I completely agree with you. I just can't wrap my head around the "Team Tony!" stuff and trying to make him into some romantic and loving guy. And before anyone tells me "it's just fiction", I *know* that it's fiction, but a fictional asshole rapist is still an asshole rapist.

Granted, I haven't read the third book, but unless it ends with Tony getting a bullet in the head I'm not interested.

Weirdly it wasn't that rape itself that made me hate Tony with the heat of a thousand suns. For me, it was the "incident". I don't care what your mother told you, "I'm sorry", doesn't make everything better. After that, Tony became completely unredeemable for me.

At the same time, I can't get on a high horse because I loved the Dark Duet series. Caleb could never qualify as a book boyfriend, but he was damaged enough that I could see his thinking process a little better. Tony's motivation just wasn't extreme enough to warrant his behavior so I couldn't connect with him the way a lot of my book buddies did.

Brandy For me it was "I'm not reading this anymore!" Flip the page and be like - holy no way that just happened ... I read all 3 books in a binge reading during an ice storm. It's like this - Tony: The man you LOVE to HATE or HATE to LOVE ... All in all it's one of my favorites. Do not mistake genre by comparing it to Duets or 50 Shades - can't be done. I don't know that you can compare it to any other book. But you HAVE to stick it out to the end. YOU JUST HAVE TO

Amanda Cervantes Thankfully I started this series over a weekend (that included two work "snow days") or I would have never made it in to the office. I have never read a book that was such an emotional rollercoaster. I yelled at my kindle, i threw things, i even admit to some 2am sobbing but I still couldn't put it down. From the beginning I felt that no matter what Tony did he would never redeem himself. Somewhere through the twists and turns I began to crack. It felt so wrong to cheer for a HEA but i found that happening more and more as I turned the pages. This was a 5 star read for me but I suddenly feel like I need therapy!

Paula You guys are really funny. I am on the first book and you are scaring the hell out of me. Tony seems to be trying to redeem himself already in book 1. to be continued.

Christine Jost Peggy wrote: "This has turned out to be one of my favorite series. I don't think that you can compare it to the This Man series at all. They are nothing alike. I guess it would be more like the Dark Duet series ..."

LOVED Dark Duet, but I really think of Dark Duet as a (very sick) love story. This - not at all. This is a complete and total mind fuck.

Personally, I LOVE books that I cannot wait until I get home from work and grab the kindle and dig in again.

Mochaspresso Sorry to say it, but I was kind of underwhelmed by this. I don't know how to rate these types of books where I'm hooked on the story but at the same time, completely let down by the path that the story takes. I wasn't buying Tony's "redemption" at all and was disgusted with Claire for buying into it. (view spoiler) For most of the book, I was thinking, "Oh my god! You big dummy!!!" I was also sick of all the shopping and jet-setting, too. I think I would have given it more stars had it not been for that.

I don't understand the "Team Tony!" sentiments either. Especially, if you've made all the way to the end of the first book. If the story tries to redeem Tony in the second book, I think I'm going to be very pissed at this series.

I know that for me I had totally different feelings after each book. At the end of the series I was like "How the hell did I get from feeling the way I felt after book one to how I felt after book 3". Crazy!! but I couldn't stop reading and that is what made it an amazing series for me.

Mocha, one of the main reason I didn't like the second book, and most likely won't read the the third is the attempt to make Tony likable. It didn't work for me because he worked better as a villain. It doesn't help that the "reasoning" for his behavior doesn't excuse the magnitude of his wrongs. If he was just the typical Fifty-Shade-a-like-alpha-hole, then maybe I could just go with it. Unfortunately he is psychopath of the highest order, so he isn't redeemable in my eyes, nor really capable of great love because of being incapable of the emotion, IMO. I think he can obsess like all abusive types.

Claudia- I finished the This Man's trilogy right before starting into the Consequences trilogy. I really enjoyed the This Man trilogy, but my mind was completely blown away by the Consequences trilogy- It seriously took over my life. The author writes so vividly that you become engrossed in the book and feel apart of it. Its a completely different type of read and you have to jump feet first in and trust the author, but believe me the decent is well worth the agony. The Consequences series is truly one of the best trilogies I have come across. Your mind will be so twisted and you will question your own thoughts and feelings, but in the end the author will completely put you back together after tearing you apart.
