I splurged and got the 3rd crochet mystery by Betty Hetchman "By Hook or Crook" on my lunch break. It looks interesting: a mysterious letter, a disturbing journal entry, and a puzzling piece of filet crochet that has a hidden message.....
I'm reading The Sweetgum Ladies Knit for Love by Beth Pattillo right now. I lucked across it at the bookstore yesterday! Did anyone read the first book in the series? The Sweetgum Knit Lit Society A Novel?
In the second the knitting/reading group is reading the classic romances like Romeo and Juliet, Song of Solomon, Pride and Prejudice, Gone with the Wind, etc.
I was also lucky enough to run across some green eyelash yarn at the dollar store -- yes, $1/skein!! I've been looking for a great deal on this since before Christmas -- I want to knit Alan Dart's Advent Tree http://www.simplyknitting.co.uk/page/... only in green..... I wasn't sure how much yarn it called for and ended up with enough for 2 trees! I'll have to make one for a friend too LOL!

now reading Exit Wounds
I'm finding a lot of funky yarn (ribbon, eyelash, lattice ribbon) at the Dollar Tree and Ocean State lately. Must be from stores closing? I use the eyelash yarn to embellish the paper bookmarks - very cool - instead of tassels (and cheaper, although ebay has deals).

here's my review:

for the Novel Ladies August Read
I just finished the first two in a new (for me) series: Kilt Dead and Scone Cold Dead by Kaitlyn Dunnett. I'm currently reading the first in another new series called Sew Deadly by Elizabeth Lynn Casey.
Plus I'm re-reading Casting Spells by Barbara Bretton so I can read the 2nd book in her series that just came out: Laced with Magic.
I keep thinking I should read dewey but then I hear it's depressing so I avoid it..... just like Marley and me and so on.... :-\ I actually have a cat named Dewey, he's all black though (except a white spot on his belly). I have two orange tiger cats though (also with white).
I also managed to work on my mermaid cross stitch again last night!! :-D

Now the only book I have which I started awhile back before those other books came around Time is a River by Mary Alice Monroe. Seems like a good book. Still trying to decide which of the books on the nook I'll start next. I want a nook book going the same time as a regular book.

I just picked up the new knitting mystery last night -- I'm already 3/4 of the way through. It's called Dropped Dead Stitch by Maggie Sefton. And for you knitters, there is an afghan pattern in the back!
