C. (Comment, never msg). (riedel) You rock Christine! I've said, it isn't light topics you read. You aren't coasting through on short page quantities or fluff.

C. (Comment, never msg). (riedel) I admire quality reading, recalling you enjoyed Agatha in younger days. I started her last year, in order and my first review says my brain cells were buzzing! Intricate plotting, masterful phraseology! :) Some consider fiction, mystery, or mainstream fluff but these can be very strong creations in multiple ways.

My definition of fluff is: low quality writing, content that doesn't sort out well, not generating profound moments of emotion. Even action can be manufactured hollowly. Mainstream mystery with exquisite language: Phyllis A Whitney, Charlotte MacLeod, Agatha, Rex Stout, Arthur Conan Doyle, Lyn Hamilton.

C. (Comment, never msg). (riedel) I think there's a difference between subject matter one prefers least and 'fluff' / poor quality. No longer resonating with Agatha for instance sounds like taste, without having to do with genius for plot and impeccable grammar. (Downright correct grammar is a delight these days).

Romance novels - no way. ;) The paranormal, if one means spirits or extrasensory ability: I consider real and normal - dear to my heart. Perhaps because the above exists, there is a great deal of good fiction on these subjects.

I detest vampires / werewolves because there is a larger possibility for 'fluff' and.... they aren't real. But spiritual connectivity, the afterlife: even fictional deptiction is captivating because it is an interpretation of a genuine layer of life. After digesting a few serious studies or accounts, there's a better appreciation for paranormal related fiction. ('Supernatural' distinguishes vampires from ghosts and metaphysical disciplines, like intuition or energy healing).

C. (Comment, never msg). (riedel) Science fiction and fantasy are odd genres for me. I LOVE Star Trek (and "The Big Bang Theory") on film / television but have no interest in that literature. Fantasy, I also love on the large screen, perhaps because it resembles the paranormal. I'm picky about reading it because there is a risk of fluff herein, like the romance genre.

Wow! The whole sky to the west went a bright pink, fading fast to purple. I think that dratted border collie has gone inside. I'm going to stand out and take this sky in.

C. (Comment, never msg). (riedel) Nicely varied. Not necessarily pleasant but something different.

C. (Comment, never msg). (riedel) Woah, you made it! Christine, I think you're first to complete 150 books in all of 2013! I stand and acknowledge your triumph too!!!! Holy moly, you achieved this with lots of time to spare! Love and admiration, Carolyn.
