Time Travel discussion

I just noticed a new feature called "group challenge". It works like your personal challenge that you can make on GoodReads to read a certain number of books in a year. The variables seem to be time period, bookshelf, and number of books. So, for example, we could set a 1-year challenge to read 10 books by group members. Any other ideas for group challenges?

I've set it up to encompass the time period of this month's book club read and to end a year from now.

P.S. You have to tie your personal challenge to one of your bookshelves, not the one in our group. It also appears that the number of books is a personal goal challenge rather than the same for everyone in our group.

I love this feature, but it is flawed, and unsupported by the techs at GR. It's been around for, um, almost two years, too. We can enjoy it, but don't expect it to work ideally for everyone. See the group "Challenge Yourself" for how it works in action.

I'm familiar with personal challenges, but I never noticed it before as an option for our group. Researching it a bit, it seems that only groups whose moderators were members of the GoodReads Feedback group had it available as a beta feature when they first pushed it out in 2011. My guess is that it's now a feature for our group since I recently became a member of the GoodReads feedback group. Maybe it never went beyond being a beta-tested option or they've just now pushed it out to other groups? Then again, I might be completely blind. Ya never know.

It definitely takes a little work to get it to populate properly. We'll see how it goes.

Oh, bother! This challenge has interjected and replaced itself as my 2013 reading challenge. Time to leave the challenge. What a pity.

So has this challenge been taken down, I can't get into to it anymore?
