When I wrote The Bainbridge Killings I had a plan, and the plan was basically this, I was going to write a novella in between my longer books to keep and attract new readers. I came to this plan by seeing many larger name authors do the same thing, like Lee Child, Steve Berry, James Rollins, and Karin Slaughter, they would have their normal longer novels and then do their .99 cent promotional novellas in between, in which they would add in the first few chapters of their longer books. The idea made sense to me, and after years of toiling through ideas for the Rock Star I had quite a few tangents to go down to come up with some shorter stories. So I came up with the concept of following FBI Agent Jon Stevens through a few of his more famous cases that came before his involvement in The Rock Star, because In coming up with a backgrounds for most of the characters in The Rock Star I thought Stevens was the most interesting. I never planned for Jon Stevens to be the main character, but as I was writing he just kind of popped up and became one, so I just went with it. For those of you who are unfamiliar with where I live in California, I live in the Central Valley, which is where a lot of food is grown, but is also very hot, upwards of 100 degrees most of the year, it doesn't rain much, and because of all the farms it's very dusty. That's important to know when you read my descriptions of Bainbridge Island, because I want to move to a place like Bainbridge, surrounded by water, with mild to cold temperatures, where it rains a lot, where there are a lot of big green trees and mountains and where it's silent enough to hear all those thoughts that go racing through your head. I want you to know this because I want you to know where I was coming from when I wrote The Bainbridge Killings because I did something right when I wrote it that has really struck a chord with readers. The Bainbridge Killings is far and away my best selling book. And when I say far and away I mean it, because the book is selling ten copies for every one I sell of the other three. I'm not sure why, but I'm happy as all heck that it is.

Here is the published description:

"Bainbridge Island is west of Seattle across the Puget Sound. The Island is approximately the same size as Manhattan, but there are just over twenty thousand people who live there. Bainbridge Island is filled with soaring forests, plush landscapes, gorgeous views, and expensive waterfront homes. It’s the kind of place you go to retire, to vacation, or to really relax and enjoy life. It’s not the kind of place you go to die.
But people are...
In this prequel to The Rock Star, Jon Stevens is in his prime, and he is forced to go to Bainbridge Island undercover to investigate the deaths of three couples. The local Sheriff has classified the deaths as suicides, but Stevens thinks they’re killings, and with just over twenty thousand inhabitants on the Island, Bainbridge has a small town feel, where everybody knows everybody else’s business, so Stevens has to investigate without the killer knowing he’s there. Which could be next to impossible."

You can find The Bainbridge Killings at Amazon and here at Goodreads and there are a lot of reviews at either source, some good, some bad, although most of the bad ones say the same thing...it's too short. I hope you get a chance to check it out and I hope you enjoy it when you do.
Thanks
Rick
