It’s about a young teen who, facing tragedy, abandons his faith for science, then time-travels to a Victorian world in search of a miracle cure for his dying younger sister. There are consequences, because it really does matter what you believe, especially this time of the year . . . .

Elements of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, with the sickly child, Victorian fantasy world, ghosts, and time travel. But instead of "business", there’s a timely science/religion debate working in the story’s background, as the main character, Chris, rejects his religious upbringing while his young sister, Janey, despite all that's happening to her, still "believes." Also the dual reality/fantasy format of Guillermo del Toro’s movie PAN’S LABYRINTH, where the main character retreats from harsh reality to a sanctuary dream world. And then there's the message of forgiveness and hope that never gets old, no matter what the season.
