Adam Passanisi | 3 comments The Running Man is a Dystopian story that follows the life of a man named Ben Richards. The story is set in the year 2025, in a chaotic and torn America. Many people in the poor cities are struggling to find work, or sometimes, just to survive. Ben Richards, the protagonist, finds himself in a very bad situation; he has a sick and dying daughter and he only has enough money to buy the cheap medicine and doctors. He believes he can not continue this any longer and decides to head to the Games Network. The Games Network airs many violent game shows publicly and pays the contestants based on their performance. After being searched and accepted into the Games, Ben was placed into the most dangerous game, The Running Man. The goal of this game is to simply survive. Richards must hide and be constantly running from a group of professional "hunters" that are out to kill him. Using techniques such as false identities and hiding, can Ben Richards survive long enough to win The Running Man?
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was interesting, suspenseful, and amusing. This book, although starting a little slowly, kept me interested throughout the entire story. The novel keeps the reader constantly wanting to read more and see how the story is going to end. It grabbed my attention and I found myself reading more and more of the book to see what happened next. I give this book a 5/5 rating because it has a very intriguing story and is very well written. I would recommend this book to just about anyone. However, I don't find this book to be suitable for younger children. Anyone who enjoys Dystopian stories, or is simply looking for a good book to read next, should consider The Running Man by Stephen King. This book will always leave you wanting to continue reading and not wanting to sit this book down until you have finished it.

I always connect Stephen King to horror. It's interesting to connect him to the realm of dystopia as well.
