For me, it was actually a movie...Love Comes Softly, that I saw on the Hallmark channel...several years ago. When the credits rolled I saw it was based on a book by Janette Oke. I wrote that down and got it from my library. Thus began a 2-3 yr. obssession with reading Christian romance.

Back in my younger years I had read a few of the racy, graphic romances, and found them just vulgar or ridiculous, so I appreciated the absence of those elements in this new found genre. However, after of a few years I got burnt out on all the religious proselytizing by some Christian authors, and now prefer to seek only clean secular books.Anyway, Love Comes Softly was the book.

Misty | 56 comments This might sound ridiculous but it was "The Princess Bride". I discovered it at age twelve and have read it several times over. It's probably my favorite book of all time.

I own, love, and re-watch often, the DVDs, but have not yet read the series!

I still swoon when Gilbert pulls Anne against him while giving her that knee-weakening kiss!
