Karena (karenafagan) Spoiler Alert! Don't read unless you've finished the book!

What was your overall opinion of the book?

Remember this is just a ratings system we made up.

Bookshelf: Loved it! (~4/5 stars)
Library Shelf : Liked it (~3 stars)
Donation Box - Hated it (~2/3 stars)

*These are just a rough equivalent of the star rating. You can use whatever your system is.

Melanti Library...

I read this one last year. I gave it 4* at the time because it's entertaining but it's just not very memorable.

I liked (and remember) his The Day of the Triffids a lot better.

Mart This is a beautifully dated science fiction horror novel. The tone, style and language - brilliantly performed by the narrator in the audiobook I listened to - is of its time, in postwar little England, and what it lacks in action and pace it more than makes up for in tension and moral exploration. A great idea, excellently crafted, and thoroughly enjoyed. (The narrator - Nathanial Parker - read it with a hint of 1950's BBC accent, which really added to the context in which it was written. I wish the voices in my head were as versatile as the readers ...)

Pink Library - I liked it, but found it a little slow in places. I'm definitely inspired to try more John Wyndham though.

Jean (mama_v) Library - I enjoyed this book very much, but I don't see it as one I would want to keep and read again.

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) Bookshelf - it's a unique, powerful novel. Here's
my review

Valerie Brown It's been on my bookshelf since I first read it as a teenager; and went back there! It was interesting to reread, since I haven't read him since I was a teen.

message 8: by Pam (new) - rated it 3 stars

Pam Still reading this book. It is just starting to get interesting, but I don't think I will keep it.

Kathy (ebookkat) (ebookkat) | 7 comments Bookshelf - it is a classic book I would recommend to others.

Francie Grice Library - good story, but probably wouldn't read it again.
