I haven't started this month's book yet, has anyone else? How are you liking it?

Brittany (storyofmyreadinglife) | 1 comments Not yet. But I remember loving it when I read it years ago. Hopefully I'll still feel the same.

message 4: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (readingwithmanda) I plan on starting the book in the next few days.

Crisabel De Vega | 1 comments I will start to read it in a few days too. Lol.

message 6: by Ana (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ana Gonzalez (ahnuhlycious) | 1 comments I haven't started either, but This Lullaby is always a quick read for me, so I plan on reading it this weekend!

Cristina Deluca (cristina0017) | 2 comments I have never read a Sarah Dessen book before. I am excited be in this book club and try out this book this month. Tomorrow I plan to go to the bookstore and grab it :). I hope this a good book to start with!

Chloe | 3 comments just ordered this book from Book Depository

Bernadette Davis (godblessthenightowls) | 11 comments I have it somewhere, but I recently redecorated my bedroom and can't remember where I put it. I'm hopefully going to go to my public library this weekend and borrow it until I can find my copy.

message 10: by Elle (new) - rated it 3 stars

Elle I'm joining in too! I've only read Along for the Ride and I would like too read more Sarah Dessen, so this is perfect. Starting This Lullaby now!

Daisy (ohcupcake) | 3 comments I started reading this yesterday and am on chapter 7. I've read this book before, but it's been a while. I'm remembering why I liked it so much.:)

Romina I ordered it from bookdepositary.... It still has to arrive to argentina!

message 13: by Deanna (new)

Deanna (deannahyatt) | 1 comments I think my school's library has this book! Hopefully i can start reading it tomorrow

Jackie | 2 comments I read my first Sarah Dessen book (The Truth About Forever) several years ago and loved it but never took the chance to read any more of her books. I'm excited to have joined this group! I started it tonight but only had time for the first chapter. I'm looking forward to reading more and reminding myself why I fell in love with Dessen's voice!

message 15: by Debbie (new) - added it

Debbie I loved this book when I first read it but don't remember it that well. Can't wait to dive into it again.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

Read it, not my favorite but you can never go wrong wish a Sarah Dessen book.

message 17: by cristina (new) - added it

cristina (cristinaem) Haven't started it yet, but it's what I'm picking up once I'm done the book I'm on now! It'll be a re-read for me and I'm so excited, it's my second favourite Sarah Dessen book (after The Truth About Forever) :)

Theresa Gonzales Cooper | 3 comments This is my first Sarah Dessen book! I am very excited to start this book. I will be reading Champion by Marie Lu first and then read this book. :)

Bernadette Davis (godblessthenightowls) | 11 comments I'm getting it tomorrow and will start it after I finish Mark of Athena, probably.

I'm super pissed. My dog is dying and I don't know if I'll be able to start the book. I'm too upset. Also, there's a chance I'm being stalked and I'm going back to school soon and I am just not in a good place right now.

Jackie | 2 comments I finished this last night. I thought it was good, but it wasn't my favorite. I felt like Remy and I had a lot in common at one point in my life, which made me really relate to her journey. I wanted her to have a happy ending with a neatly tied little bow, but I like that Dessen was realistic with her conclusion.

message 22: by Elle (new) - rated it 3 stars

Elle I just finished it. I liked it better than Along for the Ride (the only other Sarah Dessen I've read). I really liked Remy and Dexter too, but his character could have been developed more. The second half of the book I found a bit disappointing (with what happened to Remy's mom and Remy's relationship with Dexter).

Ludmila Campos I'm in page 45 and I am liking it.

Bernadette Davis (godblessthenightowls) | 11 comments I just finished it. Although, I remember loving it when I first read it, I can't remember why now. I really liked it, but I guess it kind of disappointed me. Dexter was an amazing character, but I never understood why he was so attracted to Remy. She was rude and mean; personally I think Dexter could have done a lot better than her. That being said, Remy was my favorite character after Lissa. I kind of connected to her(Remy) in a way I can't explain. Lissa reminded me of one of my best friends and yeah.

Heather (bookables) | 16 comments Mod
I am just beginning it as well! Remy is sort of mean and Dexter is just plain adorable! So far my favorite scene has been when Lissa's bf breaks up with her and Remy throws a Diet Zip at him. Best friend ever!

message 26: by Nadia (new)

Nadia (nadz158) Thank you Heather for the add! I haven't read any Sarah Dessen books but I can't wait to get started on them :) I don't know if I can this month's book but definitely next month :)

Dakota (dakotaapaigee) I started this book yesterday morning, and even though I have been busy with work all weekend, I flew through it. I enjoyed this SO much.
As much as Remy could get on my nerves at times, especially during the first half of the book, I really could understand where she was coming from, and in several ways, I could relate to her. Dexter takes the cake for the sweetest character ever. How amazing it would be to have someone in your life who is always so jovial and fun to be around.
I'm very content with this book in its entirety, and I think it ended perfectly. Sarah Dessen created such a believable story and managed to end it so realistically.
I'm looking forward to reading more of her novels in the months to come. :)

message 28: by Verity (new)

Verity Thanks for the invite, can't wait for next month so i can join the discussions :)

message 29: by Toni (new) - rated it 4 stars

Toni I just finished this last night. It was my first Sarah Dessen book and I really enjoyed it. I don't know if all her books are this way but I appreciated that there were no sex scenes sometimes books get carried away with this and it was a breath of fresh air that This Lullaby didn't have that. I loved Dexter it was nice to see an awkward, clumsy genuinely nice guy as the main male protagonist to me he was more realistic, let's face it how many guys that look like male models have a great personality to go along with it. All in all I gave this book four stars and can't wait for next months pick!

Daisy (ohcupcake) | 3 comments I've read many Sarah Dessen books and one thing I really like is that she let's us know happened to characters from other books. For example, in this book John Miller's crush (Scarlett) is the pregnant girl from Someone Like You. And Remy is mentioned in a different book, which I can't remember the name of right now.

message 31: by Elle (new) - rated it 3 stars

Elle Oh that's so cool, I didn't know that! I haven't read Someone like you yet but it would be fun to read more about Scarlett and see Rémy mentioned again in another book.

Bernadette Davis (godblessthenightowls) | 11 comments Daisy, Remy was mentioned in Just Listen, I believe.

Bailey Yes, Remy and Dexter are in Just Listen! Just reread the part with them! (It's at the concert that annabell leaves)

Bailey I am just finishing it up, and still hoping to get to this months book! Wish me luck! Both are rereads for me!

Heather (bookables) | 16 comments Mod
I just finished this the other night. I was very surprised...I remember this being on of my favorites if not my all time fave book by Sarah Dessen. After re reading I realized I like this book but I'm not in love with it.
Remy is just a very hard character to love! So stubborn and set in her ways but I liked seeing her change at the end. Dexter was really this book for me. How freaking adorable is he?

message 36: by zae (new) - rated it 4 stars

zae (theliteraryeffect) Aw, you changed your mind about it. This was the first book I've read from Sarah Dessen and I fell inlove with it. Now I'm wondering if I'll end up loving it as much if I reread it.

Bailey I think I love this book so much because Owen is like my dream guy. He's a bad guy,but he's changed. I think that kind of tends to draw girls in a lot. I do agree about Remy though. She's not the best Dessen character...

Christa I loved the book. I thought that it was so cute and adorable, but I completely agree with Remy. You just can't fall in love with her. I did have so much sympathy and love for her mother. I adored that her mom still believed in love even after everything she had been through. It's really touching.

Daisy (ohcupcake) | 3 comments I actually like Remy. She is very set in her ways, but I get why.

Justine M (justinereads07) This is the first book that I read from Sarah Desssen. This book is ok I rated it 3/5 stars. I did not love the book but I did enjoy reading it. It had funny moments and a lot of teenage drama. Out of all the characters my favorite was Remy, yes she was bitchy but I understand why she was like that. I wasn't a fan of Dexter (sorry) he was so irresponsible, and messy and ignorant. I really don't like guys like that. That's why I did not like him. But over all the book was ok. I really want to read more from Sarah Dessen :)

message 41: by Tara (new) - rated it 4 stars

Tara (tara_nursereader) | 1 comments I am listening to the audio book when I drive to work/errands and while on the treadmill. Liking it so far.

Theresa Gonzales Cooper | 3 comments Just finished the book today. It was my first Sarah Dessen book. I enjoyed it but it was not one of my favorites. I thought it got really good towards the end and was a little slow in the beginning and middle of the book. I really liked the ending. It took me a long time to like Remy and I liked Dexter but did not love his character either. Looking forward to seeing what book we are reading next month. I rated it a 3 out of 5 on Good Reads.

Heather (bookables) | 16 comments Mod
My review for this book will be up on Thursday. Anyone else filming a review for it?

Ludmila Campos Wow. I really loved this one. This is my fourth Sarah Dessen’s book and is definitely my favorite so far.
Now, really, I think Dexter is the sweetest guy ever! I loved this character. The way he handled the situations and how nice he was at all times.
About Remy, she got my nerves at some points but I could see all the reasons that lead her to be the way she is, so stubborn and hard. Remy is a girl who doesn’t believe in love. Her mom is in the fifth marriage, what doesn't really help. Remy didn't have the best boys in her life either (until Dexter).
This story is about finding love and I am so glad with the way Sarah told it.
It's not a reread, so I don't know how would I feel reading it again. Now I must say I loved it!

Chloe | 3 comments Just finished the novel, its only my 4th Sarah Dessen book but so far my favourite.

Jamie-leigh Haughn (ermahgerdberks) | 1 comments I will do a quick chat about this book in my wrap up, but I personally loved it. I just love Sarah Dessens writing style, so far I haven't been able to put her books down! I will stay up until 3am reading her books! I just loved Dexter, like how fantastic was he! So perfect with his imperfections!

Tessabella76 | 3 comments I just finished This Lullaby. I liked it but Just listen is still my favorite. I just couldn't connect with Remy and I didn't feel like I got to know Dexter enough to love him.

Bailey Starting this right now! Hopefully i can finish it by the end of the month so I can still say I am reading them 1 a month! I have stayed on track so far!

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

To be honest, this book was pretty forgettable for me. like I literally just read it a week a go and i pretty much forget everything about it, which doesn't typically happen to me with books, especially Sarah Dessen! not a horrible book by any means, just kind of "blah", lol

Joyce (booklover736) | 1 comments I just finished this book. I liked it, but I didn't love it. It just wasn't that special to me. I didn't like the main character Remy. I didn't like her voice and her desicions. But in a wierd way, it was also kind of refreshing to not have a perfectly lovable main character. Anyways, I liked this book, but I hope I love the next one more.
