How many of us have one? How many of us think it's useless? How many love it? Is it TMI? Is it becoming unnecessary with the new apps popping up such as snapchat? What's your view on it?

Anyone up for sharing and seeing pieces of each other's world through images, rather than our beloved text?

As your mod, I'm curious about every one of you and your books, so feel free to follow, and I'll follow back.

House03 | 26 comments I have one, but I have no clue how to use it unless I'm on the iPhone app. Which I can't use until I have my iPod fixed.

Mind telling me your username? If you have one, your username will still be there :P I sometimes check mine on the computer but I can't upload from there, just see my news feed.

Jennifer | 185 comments I am quite honestly getting annoyed with all these little tech sites. Hash tags everywhere, people thinking others care that they are having a pumpkin spice coffee, etc... I am getting close to closing my Facebook, and I refuse to get Instagram! And I realize it doesn't truly affect me, and I am a jerk for complaining about it. But to answer your question... No, I don't Instagram. ;)

Jennifer, you are not the only one who has wanted to deactivate facebook. Several times I've come near to it, and just said enough! All this pettiness BS and postings that just caused me to have a mile long stare would just make me not want to talk to anyone, but then I realized that it's not the websites, it's the people behind them. It's the inability to filter out. It used to be easier for me. I would "delete" people all the time, but as facebook grew to everyone, it was harder to do it. How do you delete a relative? How do you keep true to yourself while not insulting everyone's sensibilities, or being "commented/gossip" upon. You don't. I just post less and less.

Instagram is something I'm fairly new to and don't have too many annoyances on. Maybe because I like being visual and try to diversify who I follow. Although I am guilty of the hashtag language, but I'm not sure if I use it to connect with others or to see what pops up.

Jennifer | 185 comments You are so right about it being a people problem, and opening Facebook to everyone did make it hard! I feel like I have to monitor myself because I have grandparents and aunts and small cousins as friends. Maybe if I added no friends from real life and just looked at interesting pictures from around the world, it could be a learning experience rather than an annoyance!

Well said supermod Annie! I just blocked my mother the other day. Haha. She kept commenting on my photos and would include short anecdotes about my life. It was embarrassing.

I went on a Facebook hiatus for 2 years and came back only this year—to promote something. I've never had so many "welcome back we missed you" messages than people actually asking how I was in person. And boy, I did not miss the "look at my life" posts. What I miss are the times when it was enough to call, meet-up or even text friends to be involved in something.

I have an Instagram account but I don't know for whose benefit I'm posting the pics for. Hence, it's empty. :)

I followed everyone on this thread, and still have our mod Rose on there too.

I feel like my facebook is not my own anymore but rather a parking spot on the internet for a water down version of a muted personality. But what can you do? I'm just waiting for the day when my own parents join.

I tried having my in person book club on facebook and I honestly got better responses with this group, and more interest.

I am now a FB lurker. I only comment on those who need a hug, love or prayers. I am tired, and more than a little sick of all of the bitching that goes on about other family members, bosses, pet peeves and other mundane stuff. While I love some of the cute kitty and puppy pictures, even those are getting a little redundant. Posting what you had for dinner, lunch or dinner? Really? Like Really, who cares, and it is down right upsetting to those on diets, or with special dietary needs, like me with celiac who now cannot eat, wheat, barley, oats, rye, etc.

Hash tags on everything and every tv show is also becoming exceedingly annoying. I have no twitter account, and unless I ever have a business, will never have one.

Ok, end of rant!

Will continue to read the books I am interested in and will post when I can!

Sarah (kuckbaby) Seems I'm in the minority here! I love facebook & insta....tumblr, pinterest, twitter, youtube, bring it on! I love seeing what other people do and glimpsing into their lives. Instagram especially is an exciting, different platform, where it is much easier to find more niche and interesting things. Search hashtags, see what other people like, or just see what's popular to lead you to new gorgeous feeds to follow!

Ok, I must admit, I do look at pinterest. I look at the fashions, some recipes, the art work and nail fashions. I do love to look at knitting patterns as I collect them and like to see what others are making. Don't know anything about tumblr? Maybe I ranted to soon! LOL.

Don't get me wrong, I like the social media. It's interesting and I love it but I hate some aspects of it like I mentioned above. I feel like in certain sites, I cannot be myself, but rather be the censored version of myself.

Krista Aoki (kristaaoki) Personally, I enjoy Instagram. I love being able to look back at the photos I've taken and deemed "significant enough" to post. I've even printed some Instagram shots of family and intend to give them as gifts!

With that being said, you may find me at: kreestaloha.

message 16: by Clayton (new)

Clayton I enjoy Instagram a lot. I don't really do food or drink pictures like a lot of people do. I like to travel and go to events whenever I can so I mostly upload pictures of where I am or have been.

You're all more then welcome to look me up and add me if you want! Username: claysjourney
