Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments There are several authors that currently write a series. If you are reading them, tell us about it. Also, do you have any problem with the series format or are you getting tired of that type of format?

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I have been a BIG fan of JD Robb's In Death series. I think there are currently over 40 books (Jonetta can tell us accurately). I LOVE LOVE the series! What I love about it is each book is more or less a stand alone book. When the story is over the criminal is caught and everyone is happy. In that I am not left wanting...

On the other hand, I have just started to read J. R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series. The series was so good that I have read all 11 books in about a month's time. Usually, I get burned out when I read that many books consecutively, especially since many of these books are around 500 pages. Now that I have read the whole series I am going nuts because she left the book with a couple of cliffhangers. Now I am not going to know if they will be addressed until March 2014.

The funny thing is I just got an fragrance lamp. I put it in my bathroom, so my whole bedroom smells like the ocean breeze (Yum.) In the BDB series they talk about the males leaving a bonding scent. Every time I would half wake up last night I kept thinking the fragrance was the bonding scent. LOL

Jonetta (ejaygirl) You've got it BAD, Dee! Love that:)

In Death series, 47 and counting...

I love a good series and only regret that I'm struggling to keep up with so many. The book I'm reading now, In the Woods by Tana French, is the first in a series but I doubt I'll continue (too long to get to the story).

I really like revisiting characters I fell in love with and when it's a series like BDB, there's so many story arcs I can't wait to learn the outcome. It's like catnip...I have no control!

I know it gets overwhelming sometimes but when it's a great story with really good writing and characters, I'll take it any day.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments Besides the In Death series what other series are you reading, Jonetta?

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 149 comments I've just finished a reread of Kerry Greenwood's Corinna Chapman series. I'm waiting for the next book in several of Dana Marie Bell's series: the Gray Court, the Halle Shifters, and the Maggie's Grove series. I'll be buying Twisted, the next in Thea Harrison's Elder Races series this week.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I have to say I don't usually read series, simply because I usually get them in the middle, and once I start to read the book I am so lost I immediately lose interest. I did get really hooked on the In Death series because they are stand alones. I also have read the troubleshooters then more recently, as I have said, BDB series. I did this knowing that they were a series so I started at the beginning.

Oh yeah, I also read the first 10 of the Stephanie Plum mysteries, till I got bored with them. The nice thing was each book was a number for instance One for the Money, Two for the Dough...

message 12: by Sera (new)

Sera (Serachan) | 496 comments I read Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh and it's amazing!!
It's not standalone but I really really recommend it!
But if you want one like BDB, Singh has her other series called Psy-Changeling, they are so good!!!!

message 13: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments Thanks Sera. I will look for it.

message 14: by Shelley (new)

Shelley (reads-a-lot-44) | 21 comments Would you mind stating the name of the author at least once? Then you can refer to them as their initials and I will know who they are. The full name may have been mentioned quite some time ago but I only see the last few posts.

Sorry to trouble you,
Shelley

Kathy Anne (kathyanne) | 598 comments As a rule I don`t like Historical Romance but a friend got me involved with Elizabeth Hoyt`s Maiden Lane series .
I do read her books because I like her writing, even tho it`s HR it feels like it`s modern somehow to me.I mean compared to other HR authors
Anyway there are 6 books that stay good thru all 6 and have the most yummie Hero`s
All 6 are about how each of them becomes a masked man and goes into the London slums-usually to save children from the scumbags that prey on them.
Anyway I give these books 4.5 *

I love it , which is ironic because the first book was awful It is part of her fool's gold series. I wish she wrote a little more about katie seeing how the next book is about her.

message 25: by Nancy (new)

Nancy | 69 comments Rereading the The Bronze Horsemantrilogy by Paullina Simons. Probably my favourite romance books but they are much more than romance novels; Tatiana and Alexander love story are so intense and compelling, and the story telling is just sublime. Okay, enough of my gushing....

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments What did you think of Night Broken and What was Murder of Crows about, Nancy?

message 37: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (gr-nancy-a) | 799 comments Read Sunset Coast. Very good.

message 38: by Nancy (new)

Nancy | 69 comments Dee, Murder of Crows is the second book of the fantasy series, The Others. The first book of the series, Written in Red was probably the top read for me last year. Murder of crows was equally good, although I wanted more from the author in term of the progress of the H/h relationship. Night Broken by Patricia Briggs is book 8 of the Mercy Thompson series which is urban fantasy. If you have never read either author, I would whole heartedly recommend both of them. Their story telling is just sublime and the stories always leave you wanting more. The romance is usually of the slow-burn type, and might take two to three books to actualise but the build-up and the end products are always very satisfying.

message 39: by Janeiowa (new)

Janeiowa | 5009 comments I'm currently reading #12 in the Sullivan series by Bella Andre...aka Bella Riley.

There was a passing mention of the Maine Sullivans, so having worked through the many SF Sullivans and now the Seattle ones, though there are a couple left to be written about, I wonder if the series will continue with the Maine ones.

Just To Be With You (The Sullivans, #12) by Bella Andre

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments Nancy wrote: "Read Sunset Coast. Very good."

Let me know what the book is about.

message 42: by Janeiowa (new)

Janeiowa | 5009 comments #12 is about Ian Sullivan, CEO of Sullivan Investments which is in Seattle. Tatiana Landon, a well-known and acclaimed young actress, is the sister of Valentina from an earlier book. Val is married now to Smith Sullivan, cousin of Ian and a Hollywood actor and director and screenwriter.

Janeiowa | 5009 comments I'm now into Mariah Stewart's new one...part of the Chesapeake Diaries series set in St. Dennis, Maryland.[Eastern Shore...reminds me of the town where the Quinn sage by N. Roberts takes place.] This one centers on Sophie Enright.
