Susan - 4 books
Amy - 4 books
Fairlee - 4 books
Bea - 4 books
Tien - 2 books
Lauren - 2 books
Karen - 3 books
Theme: So since our reading will cover lots of holidays, I thought the theme could be a representative item on the book cover. So some holidays that I can think of (not inclusive I am sure) are: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, Kwanza, and Hanukkah. The items could be a gift, turkey, candles, feast, party items, Christmas tree, etc. It would be up to the picker to determine the holiday and item. The holiday must occur within the reading time of 11/15/13 - 1/31/14.

Are you able to determine who's up for the theme and what it will be? -thanks! :)

I'm definitely in! I love the individual comments, and seeing what people have thought about a book I picked from their shelves. I has been assuming I'd drop back to 3 books this time, but if we're extending till Jan. 31, I could go for 4. On the other hand, if it helps the organization (for example, if there aren't other people up for 4 this time around, I'd also be fine being put in a group of people going for 3).
BUT ... a question/comment/suggestion about process. I've been very happy with the groups I've been in so far. But if we tend to stick to the same numbers of books, then always grouping us by numbers means we'll more than likely keep ending up with the same people. That could mean our choices get stale (Even this time, I chose something for Tien that I'd chosen before). Is there a possibility that the groups could be arranged more randomly, to allow for more variety? Now that we're used to doing it, I think mixed-# groups could work.
Example: the "S" group:
Sally-2 books: Each of us chooses 3 books for her.
Sandy-1 book: Each of us chooses 2 books for her.
Susie-3 books: Each of us chooses 4 books for her.
Sammy-4 books: Each of us chooses 5 books for her.
Just a thought. I'll be happy with it however you set it up.

When would this start? Dec. 1? So we would have 2 full months to read? Or would we start in November? Wow! If November...the I would go for 4 books, 'cause I would have 2.5 months to read!
BTW, I like Susan's suggestion.

Great minds think alike. I have been worrying over that very thing, Susan. I can certainly mix it up, not sure yet just how, but I will figure something for this round. And your way of picking books is spot on. That is exactly how it will work. Thanks for the suggestion!

The plan is to start on November 15, like normal and just give everyone more time to get their books read. :)

Thanks for picking me to win the lottery!...oh, not the lottery. I am still excited to pick the theme for our next read. :)

Hey, it is a Holiday and it falls within the time period. Are there any things that could be on the cover of a book that would signify it?

lol, Lyn, you had to ask!
the flag, of course, then maybe southern cross, kangaroos, koalas, beaches (since we'll be smack bang mid summer), thongs (what you'd call flip-flops), the indigenous flag, bbq, beer, etc

Book a Fort finishes at end of this year... and we're not going to drag it out as another exciting big one is coming for 2014.

When does the reading start for this one?

When does the reading start for this one?"
Reading for this POTS cycle starts on November 15th, or as soon as you all pick the books for each other.

Ladies - can you let post in the thread from which shelf we should pick your books?
D.G. wrote: "Lyn - Can you add me to the list with 2 books? I figured I would make it to group 2 which has 3 people."
Done, dearie.
Done, dearie.
So! put your hands up if you're game. We'll try to get the grouping done on Tuesday morning (my time) though you're welcome to sign up all the way to Friday, 15th.
If you're signing up after the group has been announced, you'll just be assigned to whichever group that's been set up :)
ps: about 2/3 way through my 3rd (out of 4) book for Cycle #4 :p Can't you just see how bad I am with deadlines!
pps: Lyn, I'm hoping that you'll be around ;)
