The Boy Who Loved Math The Improbable Life of Paul Erdos by Deborah Heiligman The Boy Who Loved Math: The Improbable Life of Paul Erdos

Locomotive by Brian Floca Locomotive

Mr. Wuffles! by David Wiesner Mr. Wuffles!

The Tortoise & the Hare by Jerry Pinkney The Tortoise & the Hare

A couple of these books have authors that won the Caldecott before. What do you think of their chances this year? What about the other books this month?

Beverly (bjbixlerhotmailcom) | 492 comments I absolutely adored Mr. Wuffles!! I know Wiesner has already won the Medal before, but he keeps on putting out incredible, creative, meticulously detailed books, and I loved this one. I want to get myself my own copy!
Locomotive was a lovely book and an excellent blending of fiction and nonfiction. Excellent detailed illustrations of the workings of old fashioned locomotives.
The Tortoise & the Hare was also beautifully illustrated, with very minimal text. The pictures really carried the story.
I don't like math, so I probably won't look for the first book.
