There are so many ways to read books in these times. It just made me wonder what format you all adore. Do you enjoy the light, paperless Kindle/Nook? Or do you appreciate the thick, durability of a hardcover? Or maybe you like the flexibility of a nice paperback? You might even like reading books on your computer, using pulseit.com or Toshiba Place.

So take a moment and tell me what is your favorite format of reading a book and why. Also, do you think that actual (paperbacks & hardcovers) books are losing value to e-books?

Ohsomanybooks | 5 comments I think there's just nothing like holding the actual hardback book in your hands. I can flip to whatever page I want, and the way it's laid out seems for me personally easier and a more enjoyable way to read. Ebooks are okay and useful for when I'm on the go or need a book that isn't available in the library and I don't want to buy, but it's just not the same. Also, paperbacks are fine, but I reread books so often that eventually if it's not a sturdy bind I destroy it :( So hardcover book for me. And I think it's losing a little value but not really as drastic as people mak eit out o be. Everyone that I know agrees with me when I say that for me, the actual book is just better.

Hmmm....Well for me I mostly use ebooks and thats because I can't always get real ones. I dont know which I prefer....I read books faster in ebook form and i can access a lot of books that way. But reading real books is weird for me now. Its like "Margins? What are these....the font is so big! What is up with the line spacing?!?????!??!!!"
Yeah, that was me after 7 months of only ebooks

I am not really a big fan of e-books. I think that is because I try to get the best bargain. So if I can find it at a library, I get it there. If I can find it on Amazon for less than $10 used, then that's where I get it from. I have a nook, so the prices aren't as good as the Kindle. I think that is why I don't utilize e-books as much as I could.

Also, real books are much more personal. I feel like I have a relationship with my books, I can't seem to part with them. What happens if my Nook goes haywire & crashes? Then all of my books are gone.!

No libraries...wow.!!! That is such a change from where I live. We have like five or six that I am able to check out from. I don't know what I would do without my libraries.

I don't know what'll happen when my libraries end up being shut down.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

We have libraries here, but I'm weird about my books. I have to literally own it to read it so it takes me a while to go through a lot of books because my wallet isn't as big as my wish list! I'm not really a book repeater either, awful I know.

message 19: by Moon (new)

Moon (moonlitnitely) I have a Nook and I still read books in physical form. The honest answer from me is it's whatever I can get my hands on. If I can download a book or put it on my nook then I do it. If I can't get it on my Nook then I get a physical copy. If I really enjoyed a book, then normally I would get it to add to my collection so I can re-read it without taking up too many gbs on my Nook.

Cassie (poffium) | 14 comments I generally prefer ebooks because they're cheaper (can't beat free) and it allows me to read while laying on my side in bed. I can't really do that with a real book. Also, I do have a library but our book budget is little to none so we get only a few new books a year. I do the feel and smell of a real book though. With real books, I prefer hardcovers because of the less damage to the spine and to me it looks better.

Funmbi (the-book-was-better) My favourite formats would have to be hardcover and ebook. The ebook is great from when I'm reading in like the car or on the bus but when I'm at home, I like using hardcover especially since they're an excuse for me to use bookmarks.
