Karen (karenofthebookworm) POTS Cycle #5 Theme: Holidays: Since our reading will cover lots of holidays, I thought the theme could be a representative item on the book cover. So some holidays that I can think of (not inclusive I am sure) are: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, Kwanza, and Hanukkah. The items could be a gift, turkey, candles, feast, party items, Christmas tree, etc. It would be up to the picker to determine the holiday and item. The holiday must occur within the reading time of 11/15/13 - 1/31/14. (~Bea)

My choices for Lauren:

Wow! You have no books I've read or marked TBR on that shelf! So I'm pretty much choosing in the dark.

Kiss of Steel. I'm curious how you like it, and whether I should consider it.
Fatal Justice - seems somewhat different from most of the others on your list. And, while I don't usually read romances, this series looks like it could be good.

theme: Whiskey Beach - Australia Day, beach

Thanks, Fairlee.
I don't think it changes anything, but apparently there are two books named "The God Box." The one on my TBR is The God Box. Your link pointed to a different one, but I'll just go with the one on my list, right?

Great coincidence, Lauren: two of your choices (The Passage and Snow Crash) are books I need to read for other challenges, so I already have them checked out or reserved. I might just start with those right away. And Fairlee also picked Snow Crash, but that's fine with me; I have plenty of books to choose from, and will definitely try to include that one.

Also, 4 of Fairlee's and Lauren's picks are ones I have on my Nook. so I'll just carry that with me when I visit my kids later this month, and read whichever of the 4 moves me at the time. I don't read as much when I'm there as I do at home, but I always get to do at least a little bit at bedtime.

I finished The Passage. Still working on The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes, one story at a time. And Murder at the Vicarage fits into my scattershelves plan, so it'll be a January book.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1223 comments Finished my 2nd book on Dec 25th - Count to Ten (Romantic Suspense, #6) by Karen Rose . 4 Stars. A solid thriller with a suitably evil villain but the romance element is not as good as the previous books.

I've finished my third and fourth books, The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes and Murder at the Vicarage. Cozy mysteries are nice when it's cold and snowing. Now I need to catch up on my reviews!
