I just looked at your suggestion and remember there were no cowboys in the book and the covers don't ring a bell, from what I remember I think this was the first book (not sure if there was a series or not) which was set I think in the present day, also I vaguely remember the female journalists hometown where she grew up and where the murder took place was in a small town, as she moved to a bigger one to pursue her career and love of being a journalist.
Thankyou though for taking the time to answer my question, I really appreciate it!

I was a bit confused by your response until I checked the link I gave you. For some reason it isn't a good link to B.J. Daniels's books - she certainly writes present day stories set in small towns. This is a better link!
B.J. Daniels

It sounds similiar to the synopsis I remember reading, but i'm 90% sure it's not that book as the female main character wasn't a travel host it was stated she is just a journalist, also the main male character wasn't a handyman etc I think he is wealthy, alpha male who is intimidating as he was the main suspect of the murder. She also believe he's the murderer and the town is covering up for him until she meets him and falls for him.
Another clue of why it's not that book is the front cover didn't have a couple on the front or any people on it, it just had scenery of a birdseye view of a town on it.
after reading the synopsis of your suggestion though I might read it as it sounds good and similar to the one i'm looking for while i'm waiting, so thankyou for that and your help to try and find the book i'm after!

Sorry what I was meant to say is from reading the synopsis of your suggestion the main character in the book i'm looking for isn't a cowboy or it isn't set on a ranch.
From your reply saying the author "certainly writes present day stories set in small towns" I just want to double check I have the right book you are suggesting might be the book i'm looking for, when I search for the title you gave me this book comes up.

Is this the book you mean?

As soon as I saw the front cover I was pretty sure it's the book i've been looking for and then I read the synopsis it just confirmed it was! Kris you're a genius as you were able to solve my mystery with me giving you some false information about the synopsis, I am so sorry It was from memory and it was about 9 months ago I came across this book (also shows my imagination can run away with me sometimes)haha Thank you so much for helping me I really apprechiate it!

From what I can remember of the synopsis, the book is a romance/murder/thriller with the main character being a female journalist who needs a good story to futher her career, so she goes back to her hometown to solve a murder that happened I think when she was a young girl/teenager and is still unsolved/buried by the police.
The crime if I remember rightly was the death of a young popular teenage girl who was murdered and pushed off a cliff, the police/town believe it was accident/suicide (can't remember which one) because one of the people in the clique group of this young teenage girl who was with her that night, the main suspect in the inquiry was her popular young good looking boyfriend/love interest? who I think comes from a rich/powerful family, therefore was let off and not investigated on.
When the female journalist goes back home she starts asking the group of people that were there that night questions, but no one gives her any answers, so she knows in order to get to the bottom of it she needs to talk to the young popular teenage guy who was the dead girls boyfriend/love interest? and main suspect. (who she had a crush on when she was young, and also who is now the main male character)
when she meets with him he's turned into this hansome, charasmatic, beautiful alpha male man which re awakens feelings in her for him, she tries to be professional and still see him as a suspect but he charms her and they both start falling for each other. She starts to find clues and I think they point towards the handsome alpha male main character so she starts having doubts about him, his love and his intentions with her. As she starts getting deeper and deeper the people in her old town tell her to leave the case and goe back to where she now lives or there will be danger for her, but it just makes her want to find out the truth even more so her life hangs in the balance and she becomes the next victim.
I can't remember much about the cover but what sticks in my mind is I think it had a lighthouse on it, with a cliffside (I remember there was a painting like quality to it of a piece of land) and the title had creek in it somewhere but i'm not 100% sure! if anyone can tell me the title of this book i'll be so grateful as it's been wracking my brain and i've been searching for it for ages because it's supposed to be an amazing book full of suspense, romance and secrets that keep you on the edge of your seat!
Thanks Jennifer
