How do you feel about reading books that are the "it thing", the book that everyone is raving about? Do you feel like it is necessary to read that book at the next available moment? Basically, do you make books a "must read" based on other people's opinions?

Or do you rather wait until all of the hype has gone down so that you can form your own opinions about it; without bias.

Some examples of hyped books (IMO)are;

1. The Hunger Games
2. Divergent
3. Harry Potter

What are some books that you think are hyped (with, or without cause)

Sometimes when I hear about books that people say are reeaaally good, I'll want to read them, because everyone loves good books! I wouldn't run to get it right away or anything, but I might look forward to reading it
I don't really base my opinions on what other people think, though. Like The Hunger Games is talked about sooo much, but I don't even really like it. Same with Harry Potter. (I'm only on the second book, but I'm really, really bored) But other people's opinions don't usually influence my own.

i usually prioritize a book if i've heard some really good things about it. The most recent was The Fault in Our Stars, and honestly, i was slightly disappointed.

yeah! prioritize is how I go about it too. I want to read them but if I find something that I find I'll like better even if it's not super popular I'll read that one instead. with twilight, I liked it but the movies just killed it. I hate that. I feel like divergent is gonna be killed by the movie too lol. same with the hunger games. there was so much more gore than they portrayed.
but if they are really popular I try to give them a shot. I didn't know much about divergent before I bought it but when I started reading it I loved it lol. and I just got a game of thrones, idk anything about that either but it has alot of good ratings.
