Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1223 comments Finished my first book - White Night (The Dresden Files, #9) by Jim Butcher . 4 Stars. The world building and characterization are highly entertaining as usual.

Oh! I for got to report completion of my first book.

I read High Five and gave it 4*. It was a fast read for me, and I love the characters of this series.

Lauren - That is my favorite series ever. Jim Butcher is fantastic and I love the characters and the way he keeps adding to the world. :)

Amy | 2241 comments With the SRC winding down, I have been reading a lot to earn points. That has enabled me to complete 3 of my 4:

Tell the Wolves I'm Home (****1/2) - sad story about a young girl who loses her beloved uncle to AIDS and what happens in the aftermath. Have tissues handy.

Alex Cross, Run (***) - typical Patterson book with serial killers.

Angels Flight (***) - another installment in the Harry Bosch series. This wasn't my favorite, but it was still good.

Stay by Nicola Griffith. 4*. Wonderful descriptions and a complex protagonist!

Finished Rain 3* and Shallow Graves 4*. Deaver is one of my favorite authors. Duve was new to me, and this is her first novel. A bit disturbing and strange.

I finished my first book, Snow Crash. I gave it 3 stars, because it had an interesting premise and characters, but I found some of it way too confusing to be enjoyable. My review here .

Finished 1, wow me!

Captivate by Vanessa Garden which I'm only considering 2-2.5 stars as it was just too un-believable & too much confusion on feelings for me.

Karen (karenofthebookworm) Finished my three books

Not The End Of The World 3*
Sugar and Spice 2*
Howards End 3*

I finished my second book, The Passage.

I'm assuming the reporting above (message 1) is just not up to date yet, or that it didn't make sense to continue documenting everything we finished?

message 13: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1223 comments Also finished my 2nd book on Dec 25th - Count to Ten (Romantic Suspense, #6) by Karen Rose

message 14: by Amy (new)

Amy | 2241 comments Haven't read a theme book, but did complete three more for a total of six:

Fangirl - (***1/2) I enjoyed the actual story and characters much more than the fan fiction sections which were distracting to me.

The Ghosts of Belfast - (***) Hit man who is haunted by the ghosts of people he killed. Interesting premise and decent book.

Inferno - (**) This entry in the DaVinci Code series just didn't grab me. It wasn't terrible, but I found myself losing focus during the audio book.

Finished my second book, Suite Française and I'm giving it 5 stars!

Such a lovely book! Too bad it's unfinished :( I'd really like to find out where she was going to take these characters to.

There were so many POVs that it would usually drive me nuts but the way it was written: narrative just flowed so smoothly and observations (whether nature / whatever else) were just so keen and real, I loved it. I love the characters most of all, the good and the not so good; I almost felt like she's explored nearly all facets of human nature (war can bring out the best & the worst in all of us) but again, such a shame this was unfinished work as author passed away.

I've finished my third and fourth books, The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes and Murder at the Vicarage. Now I need to catch up on my reviews!

Sorry I have been missing again all. December was a blur for me. I believe I have the list above updated for everyone's books, but if not, let me know and I will make the changes. :)

Thanks, Lyn! Hope Christmas was awesome for you despite the crazy business of it all :)

It was great, but SO busy. I thought it was going to be more relaxing, but no such luck. Lots of family and fun though. I am now back and renewed.

Hope your Christmas was great, too, Tien.

I have heard great things about Jeffrey Deaver. He is one of those authors I have on my TBR to read. Thanks for the update. I have posted it to the top record.

So - you were randomly selected as the theme picker for Cycle 6, which will be starting on Saturday. I tried to send you a message, but couldn't. Let me know what you want the theme to be for the next cycle.

Are we still doing POTS? There has been no sign-up for number of books or teams set yet. I thought it had been abandoned as a game.

No, it's not been abandoned at all; we would've said something. We extended the last POTS to end of Jan, remember, just cuz of the busy season? So, it's end of Jan now and Lyn will set up a sign-up thread soon (possibly this weekend).

Yep, I plan to work on it tomorrow, if not this afternoon. I did already pick the theme person for cycle 6, but haven't heard from her and I was not able to send her a PM.

Tien - are you able to send her a note? If so, could you confirm with her. If we can't get in touch with her I will pick another person.
