Long long time ago in a faraway land this is how they all start. each and every fairytale, this is a tale but not a fairy tale. this is a story about a young girl whom is becoming a women and her father has died and she has been left with her step mother and her step sister. this is set in china in the early times when they still bound women s feet. which means that you wrapped ropes and such really tight that caused your feet to bleed but it made your feet smaller. this was a tradition but now modern day it is illegal. this young girl has been left alone with no one to care for her she finds her joy with a fish in a pond of which she believes it is the spirit of her mother. the fish a beautiful rainbow that provides her joy her step mother and sister are harsh this story tells of how she has too kill for her food and how she makes sacrifice over sacrifice just so she can be loved her name is xing xing which means shining star but the step mother calls her lazy one this is a relistic fiction and it is one of the greatest books i have read i would recommend this book to girls and women more i dont know if guys would like it as much but they could if they wanted to. i chose this book because the title cought my attention and i wanted to see and once i opend the book i could not stop reading this is a classic cindrella but with trouble heartache death and a advanture that leads this woman to her new life.
