What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

A young girl was supposed to take an educational trip in Central America (I believe) for the summer. She met a boy who invited her to a party. She then decided to go with him instead of her planned trip. They travelled all over the country to remote places. They separated at some point, but she found him again after tracking down a sister (I think...or maybe close girl friend).

Which country do the teens travel in? When did you read this book? Anything about the cover?
