Theresa Ramseyer | 25 comments Bad weather coming in and my car's on the fritz, so I'm going to turn Men of Mathematics in today if at all possible. I did find a decent Women of Mathematics type book, so will start with that, hopefully later today.

Theresa Ramseyer | 25 comments Ok, changed my mind. Keeping Men of Mathematics. It's due the 11th, so at least I can hopefully get a good running start!

Theresa Ramseyer | 25 comments Thanks. :)

I've been having transportation and weather difficulties. Frustrating. I appreciate the waiting. Hope you're having a great week!

Ronald Lett (slider142) | 15 comments It's been constant shoveling of snow all week here as well. Hopefully better weather soon! :)

Theresa Ramseyer | 25 comments With my apologies for not being able to contribute, I'm leaving the group this morning. I have never been someone who likes to just up and bail without notice.

I still want to do the Person of Math idea. I have the library books, just haven't made the time to sit down, go through them, add from other sources, and post. I don't want to do just a c/p from the book(s) for each person.

I am supposed to be hosting a discussion on the book Godel, Escher, Bach on the The Aspiring Polymath's Society group; I'm way behind in that as well, am currently reading a book on Escher to help with that. I'm thinking of doing a Person of Math thread there.

I'm also a current member of the group Math is Great, and am trying to decide what to do there. Not much action, but the bookshelf looks so interesting :).

Again, I'm sorry that my intentions were bigger than my abilities!

Take care,
Theresa

Ronald Lett (slider142) | 15 comments Hi Theresa (and anyone else who is interested in the history of mathematics)!
Per our earlier discussion, I thought this book : Pioneering Women in American Mathematics: The Pre-1940 PhD's would also be a good fit.

Theresa Ramseyer | 25 comments Thanks Ronald. :)

I've had some family things going on the past few months - Dad was in the hospital in early December, and then the holidays, and then my precious Yorkie furbaby, Heidi, went to the Rainbow Bridge at the end of January. She was almost 12 1/2 years old, I'd been her Mommy for 8 1/2 of those years, and we'd dealt with her broken back for about a year and a half.

I haven't felt like doing much of anything I didn't really, really have to do, and February was one of those months that almost everything I tried to do backfired. We've had an icky and long winter, as well.

March has been better, so there's hope :). I am so glad spring is on the way!

Unfortunately, I'm not seeing where I can get that book from MSSU or inter-library loan it from Webb City. It sounds interesting; I'll keep digging for it.

With luck, I'm going to MSSU's library tomorrow night to pay fines from being snowed in. Have to get Mom a birthday present first, so might not have time. But whether then or later in the week, I'll check out one of the books and see about getting started again.

Take care,
Theresa
