Hey Vicki,
At this time, we don't have a sharing/lending option; however, if you would like to share your Audible account with family & friends, simply have them log into their device with your Audible credentials.
You can check out all the compatible devices here: www.audible.com/mt/Apps/.

Yes, you can return an audiobook to Audible. The link is most prominently on your Library page, but you'll also find that if you give the book a low rating there'll probably be a pop-up offering you the opportunity to return it. If all else fails, you can call Customer Service and they'll make the return for you. Generally, Audible allows 2 returns a year but more can be made if you call.

Well no one at Audible has said a thing to me about it and I've never read that on the site.

Exchange any book you don't like - no questions asked."

True. I was just surprised by what Jeanie said given my history of returns so wanted to check.

I guess, I wouldn't want to return too many because they could turn it off - especially since there is the sample feature
I have never returned a book, and I don't think I ever will. I also don't write one-star reviews, but I may make an exception soon...

That's a very good point. I listened to a book a while back that had irritating editing errors; but I enjoyed the book and didn't return it. Perhaps I will next time.

I should have returned A Game of Thrones. Once an hour a sentence repeated itself, like they recorded it from a CD where they repeat the last sentence of one CD onto the next CD. There also was about 40 minutes of it that repeated itself about 3/4 of the way through. Considering it's been one of Audible's best sellers, I can't believe they would sell it in that condition.
That said, I did enjoy that book, so I didn't return it, but my Audible review is pretty pointed.

That was the book I was referring to.

Not surprising. I can't believe they kept selling it with that many editing issues. I don't know anything about editing, but these seem easy enough to fix.

I did let them know, and I got no response.

I let them know and mentioned the problems in my review. They gave me back my credit but no response about fixing the problems...

Same here Leslie, let them know and wrote a very pointed review, which has like 50 "helpfuls" on Audible. No response.

Mine too, Kim, on every issue but this one. It's surprising.

Game of Thrones is from Random House. I also listened to A Clash of Kings, 2nd in the series, and it did not have the same editing issues.

Others have more experience but yu can put your Audible account on inactive for a period of time--six months maybe? If nothing else I know I can wait six months past my renewal date to buy more credits if I have some still left--not that I've made it more than two months before renewing... sigh.
I'd say what you need is a support group to help you with your addiction, but boy oh boy is this the wrong place for anyone wanting to reduce their audiobook intake! ;P

Interesting - why did you find what seems to be a science fiction novel offensive? I just had that kind of visceral reaction to my last read, so I'm curious :)

I guess it gets to personal perspective. I can not stand a story where the lead character is despicable. Basically, the lead character got in a situation where they had to make a call I think to go back or continue, and she agreed to a vote, and that she'd go with the vote, but then she lost the vote, resoundingly So she sabotaged the ship. And she then had some crew who tried to fight back executed by taking them out onto the asteroid and drilling the backs of their heads out with a mining drill. That was enough. It made my blood boil. So I found the lead character personally morally bankrupt, despicable and the type of person I loathe. I couldn't take any more. I won't read a book if I'm supposed to relate to someone so vile
Fascinating. I didn't like my last book (Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt) because there seemed to be a continuous attempt to justify or condone the actions of a "mother" who pitted her children against each other and enjoyed humiliating one of them. If she had been cast in the role of villain it might have worked, but the author gave the story an air of "poor Dani, she just can't help herself". It infuriated me, and I gave the book two stars.

Yes, that sort of behavior would fall into the classify as despicable and I wouldn't be able to finish that either... You have to wonder about authors, sometimes.
Well, they often "write what they know"...a phrase which makes me want to say "Explain Robert Jordan - or Diana Gabaldon"

Thanks so much!

I agree if I finish a book I don't return it. The ones that I can't even stand to finish I must return those which hasn't occurred too often.

There were lots of weird relationships in that book.

I return them to Audible if I realize fairly early on that a book is not going to work out; if I get roughly halfway, I don't. I wouldn't return one that I finished, but ultimately regretted buying -- those get a review saying why I can't honestly recommend it.

Yes, I'm the same. If I finish it and didn't like it I don't return. If I can't finish it, I'll return it. I've returned two only though. I have had another couple of oddities though. One book I managed to buy twice and returned one, and the other was a faulty audiobook (Stephen King Duma Key - it was like it was ripped from a scratched CD and had a lot of read errors in it - I bought the CD version and did it myself). I have been thinking of contacting them on Starship Troopers, but I got that so many years ago, and only got around to listening to it. But there are a lot of audio issues with it, like it was copied from a dodgy audiocasette (something else I have extensive experience on with Audiobooks - converting tape to digital, and cleaning them up)

But I'm debating on whether or not to try to return Unholy Ghosts. I've gotten about an hour or hour and a half in and stalled because I don't care for the protagonist and don't like the world the author created. It's not badly written, I'm just not connecting with a female lead who works to earn money for drugs because she's an addict, and I'm not crazy about a world that has proven there is no God and no heaven because the veil came down and they know where dead people go and it ain't heaven. Blech, why do I have to spend my time with this world? I've never returned a book for such a reason and appear to be both obsessive/compulsive and masochistic enough to feel I should finish what I start.

That sounds like a pretty good reason to stop reading and returning...

At my advanced age, I think it's good policy to cut my losses early. :-)

PS That book club is interesting and the books are usually well chosen. I think most readers will find a good tale.
