Minda~Quenn {Somehow I found a way to get lost in you} I think they were good for each other.

Camille Bénard Exiting because their love was forbidden but sad at the same time for the same reasons.

QUESTIONMARK I thought that it was sad because they couldn't be together

Ash Lindsey It was messy, and very unhealthy and sadly those are the kinds of relationships that break peoples hearts yet they still want to suffer together. And I think that is tragic, but a necessary lesson we all must learn from. And as willing as you are to suffer with that person it is only because it most likely wasn't meant to be. Finn wasn't her soul mate and if she really loved him in a healthy manor she wouldn't have fallen in love with Loki.

That's what I thought as I read the series. This quote I read once comes in play: "If you're in love with two people, pick the second. If you really loved the first, you wouldn't have fallen for the second." Wendy and Finn argued a lot and it wasn't good for either of them.

I don't think people actually think about those things. They think just because its a book and it isn't real there doesn't need to be logic in it. I think that is ridiculous. So instead of thinking it over they just rant about how two people need to be together even though it would be bad for the character. First love doesn't translate to BEST. Sometimes your first will be the worst experience in your life. This series is good for bringing that to the readers attention.

Well I guess you don't know what true love is then. They had a special kind of love. They had the kind of love that you had to fight for, they just couldn't handle the fight.

Also, she married Loki for her people. She had to do what was best for her people to rule the tribe. They had the hardest kind of love because they had to let that love go. The cover of the book says "What will she do for the people she loves?" This meant finn. She would get him in so much trouble if she married him, and she couldn't do that to someone she loved. They are in love and I will keep that opinion until the day I die.

I'm with Devon. Finn is for Wendy. Wendy is for Finn.
Although the ending of [Ascend] broke my heart into a thousand pieces, I still find myself adoring Wendy and Finn's love for each other. Screw Loki. Screw myself. >_<

Contrived and corny.

Tina J Severely disliked Finn. He clearly put his job before Wendy, that's not love.
And Wendy didn't marry Loki 'for her people'....she did it because she loved him. It seemed it all worked out well for everyone in the end anyway.

Ash Lindsey After rereading this series several times since i made my first comments i find that i still believe in what i said previously. Yes, Wendy and Finn loved eachother. But they didnt love eachother in the right ways. Tell me that when you love someone as much as you describe they effervescently did, why didnt it work? Kingdom and status and war pushed aside what was standing in the way of them being together? Take all those out of the running and what is left? A severely damaged and duty stricken boy too stubborn to put such things aside so that he could have been with her. With love comes risks. Theres the risk of actually falling in love with someone and then theres everything you are willing to risk to keep that person. Finn failed in the second category. He wasnt willing to risk anything for her like she was for him. Loki constantly risked his life for that girl. Forever proving that even if she hadnt chose him that he did however deserve her. He did love her. Like i said, since we are talking about the love story and not the actual premise of the book, if we set aside the main problems of the story and leave just the teen love melodrama... all you have is a boy who couldnt love a girl in the way she loved him because he wasnt ready, and she found someone who could love her and he did the same. You love different people differently. Sometimes harder, sometimes messier, sometimes better. Yes, the love is still there but it isnt always supposed to be the final love you experience. In your lifetime you experience so many different kinds of love with people and none are the same, your last doesnt excuse the previous and your first doesnt slim the chances of the rest. Finn and Wendy had a love but it wasnt meant to be. It was toxic, and dangerous and abusive in many ways. But Loki is so good for her. And i feel bad for the characters that some people make suffer through loves like Wendy's and Finn. Its down right sickening to make someone suffer in that way. Honestly id prefer reading about physical torture, it causes me less pain than the heartache.
