ch6 - and now it's really kicking off!
i was going to read just 2 chapters today, but that's not going to work.

so the copper has rescued Sedric, and i definitely hope that Sedric will rescue the copper, or that the copper will just eat Jess or something (food is good right?).
if he doesn't, i might strangle the guy.

I was really hoping Jess was dead - but I should have known.

Ch7. Ah wishes do come true. Jess vs dragon = delicious

Because my stupid upstairs neighbour decided to listen to his music loudly again, i had to flee, but i took notes! so here we go.

ch7 - Love love love
Hunter = Food = Delicious. I kind of wished i hadn't thought of this option and i might have enjoyed that moment even more!

Looks like they are sharing wounds too, after sharing blood? When Jess speared the dragon, Sedric got numb too in his leg.


The conversation between Thymara and Greft about chosing a partner made me sick to my stomach. Who the hell does this kid think he is?

And then it seems, Jerd is pregnant. That'll go well, a pregnant woman on this trip. It's a good thing Tarman is there.
Oh, and if the baby has a tattood face, i think we can safely assume that it's Tats' :))

ch8 - Greft is getting down on my despicability scale fast! "I managed...", "I gathered...", "I'll organize". Good thing both Carson and Leftrin shot that down fast

Alise and the locket was such a silly scene. How gullible is she? To think Hest gave that for Sedric to give it to her? Good girl - grow up!

I'm so glad every time we have a new survivor found and joining the troupes again. I nearly joined the dragons in trumpeting their joy!
Only Heeby and the copper to go now

ch9 -
This conversation is so good:

Sedric.
“No. Go away. Let me sleep.”
Sedric.
“I just want to sleep.”
Sedric.
“What?” He projected all his annoyance into the word.
“I’m hungry.”
"Well, I don’t have any more hunters to feed you.”
"???"

And then: "Sedric my keeper, you will change."
I think we have our next Elderling defined, in case there was any doubt. A dragon can chose to quicken the change of a human.

And so the copper is nearly found and back with the troupes again. Only Heeby left. And with all that talk about Heeby trying to fly, I'm wondering: what if Heeby managed to fly out of there?

ch10 - And there we go: Hest is finally returned and discovered what happened. And looks like Bingtown has been gossiping about Alise running of with his servant too! That must hurt, Hest!

It's sad to see how Sedric will assume any human attention to him as an opportunistic attempt. He's so convinced Davvie and Carson were nice to him because they know about the dragon parts. Hest sure did a number on him!

"Tarman can't crawl any further"
Who said something about legs? fun to read that it was actually Tarman who requested the legs and tail. Did he want to be sort of a dragon again? He can walk know, he has a tail to steer, and with his sails up, he can almost fly.

It also seems that Tarman knows about Kelsingra, or has memories of it. That'll be interesitng too.

I just want to slap him.

For a minute I thought Alice was sure to find out about Hest and Serdic - but she is so innocent of all that stuff. I think once she knows she'll let go and be with Leftrin.

He does deserves a good slap! Who does he think he is? Caesar reborn?

Jess getting eaten by the copper dragon made me cheer.

Alise finally gives into desire, but how oblivious can she be about that locket? She suspected it was a romantic keepsake and suspected Hest of cheating, but can't put two and two together.

I hope Sedric finds something with Carson as well.

Greft is a self righteous prig and I wouldn't mind if he gets eaten too.

This part got really good though. I was only going to read two chapters last night and ended up reading a few extra.

I hope Heeby flew. Or at least that we find her and her keeper.

I like how the dragons are growing as this trip goes on. Maybe there is hope for them to be full dragons yet.

Yeah - and they are getting their poison glands working again. I wonder how and why that's happening.

Agree! I took quite some time to get up to speed, but i think we're cruising along fine now :)

That was cool. Also his personality changed somewhat with the incorporation of more memories

I just can't feel bad about Jess.

Well after Cersei becomes a major POV character I felt more for her and felt sorry for her when she was publically humiliated in book ???? (I can't remember). We never really get Jess' POV - but also, it was the dragon who killed him after Jess had tried to kill the dragon and while he was trying to kill Sedric - so fair enough I say.

I cheered when she took walk.. Her POV chapters made me despise her more. Unlike Jamie.

But I distinguish differently cheering for the death of characters from reality.

I had a similar issue of conscience there. I was so glad Jess got eaten (hooray) and then i thought... oops. It was some sort of self-defense though.

I guess this is were Robin Hobb is so good at: making us despise certain people very hard, so we are kind of glad to see our protagonists get rid of them. (Never felt sad for Chade and Regal either!)

Just curious: How did you feel about Kennit?

very mixed feelings about Kennit, there are moments that i really like him, somewhere in the middle of the liveship traders when he is a father and mentor for Wintrow.

at the end he becomes too opportunistic for my taste (trying to get etta and wintrow to have a kid to have a link to the ship) and of course the raping of althea was despicable.

what makes him slightly more likeable though is that we know his back story, which is really negative of course. that doesn't excuse the rape (obviously!) but some of the other things he does are put in a certain context.

differently to Chade or Regal, i did occassionaly feel sorry for kennit :)

I think Kennit is a great character, but I never liked him. All of his likeableness was fake.
