Look for one of the following items on a cover, in the book, where the book takes place, or a number associated with the series number or pages depending on the criteria. Each of the themes are inspired by something that happens during that month. (Although, you may wonder how a few of them fit in.) This challenge is worth 12 points. Books may not be used in other challenges unless that challenge specifically states it's okay. Books must be read on or after 12/26/2013.

January: Read a book where page quantity ends in a 3 or 1, a door, circumcision/circumcised, Australia, red, oak tree

February: Read a short story or novella under 200 pages, a purification ritual, last book in a series, snow, person in a river/lake, book pages end in an 8 or a 9, purple

March: Greek deity, space travel/different planet, farmer/rancher, wolf, primary characters name starts with an R, first in a series, basketball, Ireland, blue, assassination, pages end in 3,1, or 4 (π), or math

April: diamond, open a gift, flowers, a garden, romance book, ghosts, princess or Emperor, book that takes place in Southeast Asia

May: gets pregnant, senior citizens, green, Hawaii, horse, WWII, bike, main character a mother, towel

June: marriage, YA book, skinny-dipping, bathing, Italy, Environmentalist, gay character, fishing, book you listened to

July: Julius Caesar, 5th book in a series or the page quantity ends in the number 5, dog, doctor, French person/France, Canada, South or Central American county, red, rubies

August:book 6 or book 8 in a series, a king (has to be a character not just mentioned - although, it is okay if their scene is only a page or two), Egypt, India, sandwich, lion, someone named Leo

September: 7th book or pages end in a 7 or 10, someone starts a new job or moves to a new location, blue, becomes a dad, Venice, Africa, beer

October: Halloween, fall, teacher, Spain, Germany, Romania, Austria, Turkey, Greece, pastor or clergy member, paranormal

November: ghost, someone dies, main character is black, Marine, war, cancer, facial hair, Scotland, shopping or works in a retail store

December: boat/ship, monkey, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, turquoise/teal, goat, bow & arrow, donates, politics or a politician

I just have to know if someone finds circumcision for some reason. I'll never look at New Years Day the same way again.

To help out, all you would need is a book with a Jewish brisk.

Well, I've got a circumcision. Or, well, a discussion of being circumcised.
Maybe I should add the word book before the period on that first sentence...

I'm going to start making you find 2 for each of our one. =) Great job.
I've got a graph and I'm plotting the months that they all fit so I use each book to it's best advantage. I'm too OCD aren't I?

Thanks! Your planning sounds too much for me. I just finish a book and see where it will fit.

I'm stuck waiting for Hot Pursuit. It's been 2 weeks and it's still not in.

message 25: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments That is nuts for an older book.

message 26: by Tina (new)

Tina (whitley97) | 24 comments I'm reading a book where the characters go to a bar called The Bow and Arrow, would that work for December?

message 27: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
Well, by the way the challenge is written, it can actually count. It does say "where the book takes place."

message 28: by Tina (new)

Tina (whitley97) | 24 comments One more question, for August it has someone named Leo, can that be the author's last name?

message 29: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
Umm...didn't intend that, but it does say "someone" named Leo. It doesn't specify first or last, or if it has to be a character so it can technically count.

August and December are the only ones I didn't finish and this morning I find two books that I have checked out from the library---One about relatives of Sherlock Holmes and Bram Stocker who are hanging out in Egypt and solving vampire crimes and the other that I've started this morning has a politician! Isn't that always just the way?
