The historical novel "St. Catherine's Crown" is my nomination,
I have two nominations: "Virgin Soil" by Ivan Turgenev and "The Golovlyov Family" by Mikhail Saltykov (Shchedrin)
I'm going with gogol's 'dead souls' simply because i want to read it ASAP
A great winter read would be Dr. Zhivago!
I wanna read Zhivago too! But i ordered it on paperback so i still say house of the dead

Any particular translation?
I'm going with the The Golovlyov Family. I have read all of the other recommendations.
Robert a Maguire interpretation is the kindle edition i have for dead souls but i'm not huge on kindle so if there's a better edition recommended i'd gladly snag it up on some good old fashioned ink and paper.

I haven't read "Oblomov" and I'm planning to read it this month, that's why I nominated it.

Dead Souls is not added to the poll we've already ready it.
Didn't add Gogol's "A Terrible Vengeance" because I was unable to find the English translation.

Oblomov seems like a cornerstone book I haven't read.

The House of the Dead - 15 votes
Since many wants to read both, "The House of the Dead" will start after "Notes from Underground".
A question about our upcoming reading of Underground...I see that the translation listed is by Andrew R. MacAndrew. I have a different translation (Garnett), does this matter?
