Arielle Rae Aguilar | 60 comments Do you take part in reading challenges? What kind of challenges? Are you part of a challenge group? Do you think that reading challenges help you in your reading or not?
Type out your thoughts on them :)

Jenn (ace-geek) I did Goodreads 2013 challenge and beat my goal. But I don't really like challenges in groups and things like that. It makes me feel pressured to read. Some people may like that but I read at my own pace because I enjoy it, and a challenge would almost make it feel like work.

Purvika (violetstygian) | 131 comments No one..else like reading challenges :p
The challenges I take part in... its like...read a book with red cover ... we get yearly challenge ... A-Z reading challenge ... monthly challenges... i normally don't take part in weekly challenges because I forget them lol... a-z can be author name, title , cover...etc etc...its so fun...it isn't a strain at all.
And its fun to search the books .. With a particular theme..that way we find those books we never would have otherwise...

Thats the thing its not genre restricted...
and moreover... we choose books as we like..not what they give.. and time restriction...I don't think reading 26 books in a year a strain... or reading one book in a month is a strain...

I don't like doing weekly challenges too, but I love to do yearly or quarterly ones :)
There are also challenges about the amount of pages, like reading books above 450 pages, or reading the rest of the books in a series... It's all really different and creative, that's why it's so much fun!
And we just fit the ones we normally read into the challenges, they don't force us to choose books we don't want to read or we don't like
Besides, it's a good way of shortening the ever growing tbr shelf ^^

Well... You don't really look for the books that's in the reading challenge, it's more like you just fit the books you read into the challenge, you know what I mean? In a whole year, you are bound to at least read one book starting with each letter in the alphabet^^

As arielle said above... we would definitely come across each letter throughout the year in the books we read... and if you personally notice you will have most letters already in your read list... the most intriguing part is it is just not bound with letters... imagine you are in a A-Z challenge and you choose your option as cover.... the wow its becomes more fun... for example.
A- arms ( there will be dozen books in which u will find arms..and u will read the books u prefer... )
B-bike oe whatever thing it may be... it just become more fun with each letter. And that way we get to reduce our long pending TBR list. And again you might come across certain books you would love to read.

Exactly... I normally prefer those challenges which I know I can participate in... there was this one group challenge I used to be in called movie challenge. So intriguing... they give u a movie and hidden words ... all u have to do is read a book based on the theme they gave and the score the most points... oh it was so much fun...

Arielle Rae Aguilar | 60 comments Oooh the challenges you mention just seem like so much fun Purvika! I've never been in an A - Z cover challenge, just authors, titles and character ones... But I have been in a friends one, where you look at the profile of other members or friends beginning with a letter in the alphabet, and choose a book from their shelves!
Talking all about this makes me so excited for next year and all the new yearly challenges to start :D
