But before I do that, I wanna make a few broad remarks. I love how in both Fragile Things and Smoke and Mirrors, Gaiman gives us a glimpse into why he wrote each story, the motivation behind each, & different reactions he has had to the stories when he wrote them compared to when he compiled them for this anthology. I LOVE that he does that. I read each story, then go back to the 'introduction' and read his comments. I LOVE the personal insight. (Has anyone read Unnatural Creatures, by the way?)
Another thing I was thinking was that perhaps we could try and read and discuss a story each day? I know we are a little late starting IF we decided to do that, but it WOULD be perfect- 31 stories for 31 days, right? Plus, some are super short. I will have the next four read by tomorrow evening and will post for each story then. I'm super excited about this group read, and hope more people participate! I love, love, love story collections, so I REALLY want this group to thrive. ANY help I can offer, Becky, I am more than happy. Just let me know!
Happy reading, all!!!

I haven't re-started this yet (I meant to but I'm trying to get the audio again and not having much luck. Boo!) I did love this story, though.

I love the layers of this story as well. The Old Ones being in control, and how humanity co-exists is interesting to me. I love the description of Queen Victoria, and I really begin to quite like her, and then you hear what the royals are really like and it's surprisingly dark.
I really like this story and it definitely kicks the collection off with a bang! :)
