The entire chapter focuses heavily on at least two major themes - negative space and palimpsests. Even in the first two paragraphs this is evident...
PALIMPSEST
“Every shape on the ground has been made vague, rounded into a white approximation of itself.”
NEGATIVE SPACE
“He presses a hand against the window, fingers splayed.... Its image remains on the glass, an island of transparency in a sea of frost.
I am curious as to what everyone thinks about where these themes may lead and what they may be telling us.
