Enjoy!! Try not to give spoilers if you can help it, for those who have not read the book, or have not read to the same point that you are.

Rosie Whatcott | 1 comments Oh my lanta. I don't even really know how to put in words the amazingness of this book. I spent like half an hour on a review for it, but it still doesn't even come close to how good the book was.
I loved everything about Hazel. I loved that she was a very normal, real teenage girl. She wasn't horrendously annoying or disrespectful to her parents while at the same time, has that teenager trend of independence and the need to kind of "be your own person" sort of thing. I don't know if this is making any sense, but I just loved how real she was. John Green is a very talented writer. And then there's gus, who happens to be the best ever!
I loved the plot, I loved the humor, I loved the way the ending felt real, I loved everything. I loved the title of the book. Somehow, it fit perfectly.
I am so happy they are making a movie! I am soooo excited!

Andrea (alexandra14) I love this book even tough is heartbreaking. I can't wait for the movie, I'm excited! Hopefully I will just have to wait half a year now. One of my fav part about the book is this:
“Augustus Waters was a self-aggrandizing bastard. But we forgive him. We forgive him not because he had a heart as figuratively good as his literal one sucked, or because he knew more about how to hold a cigarette than any nonsmoker in history, or because he got eighteen years when he should've gotten more.'
'Seventeen,' Gus corrected.
'I'm assuming you've got some time, you interupting bastard.
'I'm telling you,' Isaac continued, 'Augustus Waters talked so much that he'd interupt you at his own funeral. And he was pretentious: Sweet Jesus Christ, that kid never took a piss without pondering the abundant metaphorical resonances of human waste production. And he was vain: I do not believe I have ever met a more physically attractive person who was more acutely aware of his own physical attractiveness.
'But I will say this: When the scientists of the future show up at my house with robot eyes and they tell me to try them on, I will tell the scientists to screw off, because I do not want to see a world without him.'
It make me cry when I read it

I cried! Oh man....I cried for a while. I had only read one John Greene novel prior to this, and I didn't care for it. The Fault in Our Stars definitely made me rethink my feelings for Greene!

message 7: by Julie (new)

Julie There are a few books that made me cry, well, actually there are quite a lot of them. But there are a precious few that have made me sob.....like unable to read the book I was crying so hard:

The Notebook
Angela's Ashes
Tuesdays With Morrie

ooo Don't forget:

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
I also cried really hard with: If I Should Die Before I Wake(it sneaks up on you...like you expect to cry, but then it just sneaks up on you...)

message 9: by Julie (new)

Julie Okay Bridgett, I've added those two to my wishlist. Call me a glutton for punishment, but I actually love books that make me cry!

Kathy Horsman (kathywithak27) | 338 comments I'm not someone that cries often so when a book induces tears, you know it's good!

I find it weird that the people chosen for Hazel and Gus for this movie, also play in Divergent together but as siblings lol...actually, I don't find it weird. It kind of creeps me out!

Kathy Horsman (kathywithak27) | 338 comments I saw that the other day! How does one transition to play those two?? It's gotta be awkward

Kathy Horsman (kathywithak27) | 338 comments Thank god I work alone, cuz I just had a river of tears. Plus, I just finished it and I really want to know what happens with Hazel. I can't believe the person I didn't think was going to die. That's just not fair!

Erin Lauritzen | 125 comments I finally got around to reading this book. All I can say is WOW! This is the first book I have read by this author and I will definitely look for more. This books makes you feel good and tear at your heartstrings all at the same time. Be prepared for tears.

I almost missed out on this book because Looking For Alaska left a bad taste in my mouth :-/

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) I was warned that this book would bring me to tears. I picked it up fully anticipating a good cry, but was disappointed. I found the story really predictable right from the start, and thought the writing a little simplistic. I still enjoyed it, don't get me wrong, but had expected more.
