Jo | 1094 comments I've just been watching the TV series Under the Dome which is quite entertaining. As the book is normally better than the series, has anybody read the novel Under the Dome and would you recommend it? Also does the plot of the series follow the book or is the TV series just loosely based on the book?

Terri (terrilovescrows) | 4 comments Loosely based. I liked both. Havent finished the book yet though

Jo | 1094 comments I watched the last episode last night and I really liked it as a series. I'm really tempted to read the book but do think it's going to spoil the cliff hanger the series finished on.

Andrea Leoni | 20 comments The series is loosely based on the book and takes a lot of liberties for the sake of narration. The series relies heavily on the mystery side of the book, ignoring almost completely the sociological side, way more interesting than the other. The creation of a whole new society Under The Dome is easily the best feature of a book which partially disappointed me...

Jo | 1094 comments I've given up and bought it for my Kindle! I saw on amazon that Under the Dome 2 by Stephen King is being released in March.

Pickle | 46 comments i really hope it gets tied up in the second series and doesnt become some massive sprawling 5 series spectacular.

I did enjoy the first series

Jo | 1094 comments I agree, too many episodes will spoil it. I'm not sure how many people are supposed to live in Chester's Mill but considering how many people have died in the first series they will do well to make many more series!

Jo | 1094 comments I'm about a third of the way through the book now and I have to say i'm really quite enjoying it. I haven't read a Stephen King book in a long time. I'd stopped reading his books as I alway felt he had great ideas and then really dragged them out, happily so far i've not felt that with this one.

Some of the characters really are different from the TV show which is making it much more fun to read. In fact I can't believe how horrible some of them are. It's been quite interesting to see which bits they used in the TV show. Anyway I still have a long way to go so I guess I will see what the outline of the second series will be.
