I agree with you Carina. My mom wants me to read the books but they don't seem that good.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Well I know HP pretty dang well. My parents and sister made me see some of the movies. And my mom has read the first chapter a bunch of times, trying to get me interested.

message 7: by Caru (new)

Caru Matched I'm more than half way through it and it's horrible!

Evangeline Jones (DivergentRavenclawDemigod) | 64 comments I love the 1st Matched book but the 2nd drags on and on and the 3rd I still don't know what to think

I forgot one! Divergent too. I've read the first 100 or so pages and it's completely underwhelming.

message 11: by Kate (new)

Kate Foley (themagicviolinist) Ooh, Francis, Layla is going to rip in to you for that one. XD

But it's badly written...:D

I don't know. It's fun and stuff but there's no imagery or description. I literally can't imagine what anything looks like without using the movie trailer. There's no sense of place. I don't know. xD

Wait. I only just noticed. Twilight?! Hey! Twilight is great, okay. Why does everyone hate it?! Ugh.

Wah! I can't win. Seriously though, the descriptions are bad. xD Maybe it's because she's only like 24 or something?!

Yep. Harry Potter too. Me and extremely hyped books don't have the best relationship.

message 17: by Caru (new)

Caru I found Divergent really descriptive!

message 18: by Kate (new)

Kate Foley (themagicviolinist) I thought Divergent and The Hunger Games were extremely well-written for dystopian! :) Matched and some of the others weren't as good, I'll admit, and I've only read a little bit of Twilight, so I don't have an opinion on that, but even if you don't like the writing in Divergent, it's still an amazing story about love and family and sacrifices and bravery. It has tons of symbolism (I think) and the characters were flawed and real.

message 19: by Kate (new)

Kate Foley (themagicviolinist) I love the poetry and themes in Matches. :) Beautiful story.

Overhyped books in my opinion that shouldn't be are Harry Potter and Angelfall. the writing in Angelfall was far too simplistic

message 21: by cindy ♡ (new)

cindy ♡ The Hunger Games. I feel like this book is talked about WAY too much just because there's a movie for it.

message 22: by asdfghjkl (new)

asdfghjkl (aveatquevale) | 16 comments The Fault in Our Stars. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but I feel like people (especially teen age girls) are only reading it because of the hype around it. Half of my friends hate reading and they read TFIOS and it just annoys me when people like something because they feel like everyone around them likes it??

message 23: by April (new)

April Harry Potter and Twilight, though I have the books and a fan of Harry Potter. I hear a lot about The Hunger Games Trilogy.

message 24: by s (new)

s (cherrybelugas) Harry Potter a little, but I still like it, just not crazy over it and the beginning books are a little boring...The 4+ are great though.

Divergent too. It wasn't very well written. I didn't even finish it. :/

Tasha | 10 comments The Hunger Games
Twilight
A Song Of Ice And Fire

s (cherrybelugas) I haven't bothered with the Hunger Games. :p

A Song of Ice and Fire...I'm planning on reading that one...
