What goals do you have in your reading this year? No pressure.

message 2: by Monica (new)

Monica 24 books in total. I am going to try and read along with each months group read and then any extra's.
I wont be counting the books i read to my kids every night or any books that i may have read before, just new ones.

That's a good goal, Monica. Although I think it's fair to count your kids books too.

Rizwan Khalil Just for starters, I targeted myself with atleast 50 books this year. Right now reading Ice Hunt, then in my very Next-Read there are:

Rollins' rest that I haven't yet read (Amazonia, Subterranean, Sandstorm, Altar of Eden, The Blood Gospel, Innocent Blood), the rest of Matthew Reilly's Scarecrow series (Scarecrow, Hell Island, Scarecrow and the Army of Thieves) and Temple, the rest of Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series (Summer Knight, Death Masks, Blood Rites, Dead Beat,....to Cold Days), The Millennium Trilogy by Steig Larsson, the rest of Jack Reacher series by Lee Child, all the Monster Hunter International books by Larry Correia, Dean Koontz's Phantoms, Strangers, By the Light of the Moon, along with Lightning the group read that I missed, Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn Trilogy Boxed Set, finally will read The Hunger Games Trilogy Boxset, the Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer and The Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan..... And if I STILL can manage, will try to read Jeremy Robinson's Chess Team series (starting with Pulse), and Greig Beck's Beneath the Dark Ice and other books, with whatever group read comes my way.

Yeah, I know, but this year I'm just shooting for the stars!

Ctgt Goals? Don't get stuck in a genre rut, which I tend to do. I did fairly well last year but still went on a horror binge for several months. I want to spread my reading all over the map this year. Also did not do enough non-fiction reading last year, so I picked up Blood of Tyrants: George Washington & the Forging of the Presidency at the library last night and will be starting that shortly.

@ Rizwan, those are series I am following or intend to read at some point. I love the Artemis Fowl series. Great idea to have a 12 year old evil-ish genius. :)

@ Ctgt, I definitely can see the genre rut. I was burned out on romance, so I started reading other genres more, and I'm glad I did. I can appreciate romance so much more now.

Chris Marshall | 52 comments @ Rizwan that is quite an epic to-read list!

I hope to continue reading more fantasy/sci fi this year, but with more action/adventure mixed in.

I'm currently in the middle of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series (going on book 4), going on book 3 of Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth Series, and going on book 9 of The Dresden Files. I hope to finish Dresden later this year, and make slow progress on the other fantasy series, without burning myself out.

Rizwan Khalil Thanks very much Danielle & Chris! Also one series I CANNOT believe I left out of the list was Jonathan Maberry's Joe Ledger books. Throw in Benny Imura books too... I guess I probably won't even manage to read half of the targets, but I have to atleast try, don't I? :P

Definitely Joe Ledger. I have Rot and Ruin in the pile, but I haven't read it yet.

It's great to shoot for a goal. You might be surprised at how well you do.

You should start a thread where you list your reading.
