Ruth Donald (redonald) | 64 comments There are so many mysteries to try, how do you choose your next read? To make it easy, I've discounted the first in the Highway Mysteries series to only $2.99. Meet Hunter Rayne, former homicide detective, who now travels the highways of North America in a big rig, hoping the solitude of long distance trucking will help him heal from the personal tragedies that made him leave his first chosen career.

His dispatcher, Elspeth Watson (whom you can meet in a free short story called Joggers, talks him into helping the daughter of a fellow truck driver who died in a suspicious accident on the treacherous Coquihalla Highway (also know as The Highway from Hell in the Discovery TV show).

There are two more books in the series, the second of which Ice on the Grapevine (named for the Grapevine Pass north of Los Angeles) was a finalist for Dan Poynter's 2012 Global Ebook Award in Mystery Fiction. The third novel, Sea to Sky is a great winter read, set in the ski resort community and site of the 2010 Winter Olympics, Whistler, BC.

A fourth novel in the series is in the works, and due for release this summer. Take advantage of the discount from your favorite e-retailer and enjoy a new mystery series that's winning fans in the US, Canada and Great Britain. Enjoy!

Joan | 94 comments The Highway Mysteries series seems very interesting to me and I'll look it up - I don't see the author mentioned anywhere - unless it's Dan Poynter.

Ruth Donald (redonald) | 64 comments The special discount on Slow Curve on the Coquihalla, the first of the Highway Mysteries series in digital format, is over - almost! It looks like there's a straggler (iTunes? Sony?) that has caused Amazon to maintain the discounted price instead of going back to regular price.

If you love a good mystery and are looking for an unusual new hero, give the Highway Mysteries a try.
