His dispatcher, Elspeth Watson (whom you can meet in a free short story called Joggers, talks him into helping the daughter of a fellow truck driver who died in a suspicious accident on the treacherous Coquihalla Highway (also know as The Highway from Hell in the Discovery TV show).
There are two more books in the series, the second of which Ice on the Grapevine (named for the Grapevine Pass north of Los Angeles) was a finalist for Dan Poynter's 2012 Global Ebook Award in Mystery Fiction. The third novel, Sea to Sky is a great winter read, set in the ski resort community and site of the 2010 Winter Olympics, Whistler, BC.
