City of Books discussion

This is the discussion for the Insomnia buddy read :)

Just let me know what the reading plan would be. :)

Does anyone have any preferences on the reading plan? I personally don't mind but I wouldn't be able to read more than 100 pages a day as I have college and exams coming up.

I wouldn't be able to read that much a day either. :/ Plus, Stephen King does weird chapters in Insomnia where the book is split into parts then some 'chapters' are really long and others are like a paragraph. (I started reading it a few years ago and I think I've remembered that correctly.)

Should we set a limit for it instead of like 100 pages a day? Like we have 8 days to read it or something like that?

Yeah I think 8 days would be good. The copy I have is just under 700 pages long so I should be able to manage that if everyone else is happy with it.

Yeah I think having a time limit would be easier and less pressure. We would just have to use the spoiler tag in case others haven't read as much

I think my copy is somewhere between 700-900 pages, so I think 8 days is a good limit for that many pages. I agree with using the spoiler tag as well, just to keep things fair.

I'm actually really excited to start this now!

Mine is an eBook on my iBooks app so it's 1200 pages haha and me too! :)

Also, I was thinking last night that once we've all finished, we could each write a little paragraph review and post it on our blogs as a group review. I don't know if any of you have blogs or would be up for that, buts it's a thought. :)

Ah that's not a problem, we can just post stuff on Goodreads instead :) reviewing it should be pretty easy though if we're all discussing stuff here

I have a semi-private blog for my reviews, but I would also put up a review for the book here on Goodreads :D

Sorry, I won't be able to participate in this buddy read anymore. I'm getting way too many assignments for college and I have work experience starting on Monday so I'm really busy :(

Okay. So I'm just going to give my two cents to what I've read so far :)

(view spoiler)[I'm beginning to be confused on the point the book is making thus far. It might just be because I'm not that far yet. Issues like abortion, drugs, and abuse are what's prevalent. The epilogue was written to keep the reader satisfied, but once I was into the real story, things seem to be a bit slow. Conversations are how many pages long and there has been explanations with regards to insomnia. I did have my laugh on folklore remedies because it is so true! :) I still need to get going to more fully grasp the material. (hide spoiler)]

Kate: I fully agree with all you've just said, but keep going, (view spoiler)[as the things that were mentioned on the prologue do become a little clearer the more you read. A whole lot of nothing happens for the first part and the title 'little bald doctors' is very misleading for it. (hide spoiler)]
